The last one I've see was Casino Royale in the theater, and it couldn't hold my interest as I was being blown by a nice girl in the back of the theater.

Craig never looked the part.

If Bond isn't about the Cold War, who gives a shit. It's something that can only exist in that era and Goldeneye was really the last of that since it was self aware of that fact yet still involved Russia in an interesting way.

Who was the best adversary? Christopher Lee as Scaramanga was easily my favorite, although Jaws is always fun.

Lee was great. Goldfinger was also a great villain. How he could be in Fort Knox with a golden gun and a thick accent yet convince the soldiers that he wasn’t who they were looking for by saying “He went that way!” is the most ridiculous thing in a series of ridiculous movies.

Trevelyn is also a great villain. Grant the Russian soldier in From Russia With Love is a great counterpart to Connery.

I also really enjoyed Bardem’s villain character. I thought the backstory for him was compelling and his tenuous grasp with his sanity was fun to watch.

Jonathan Pryce’s Carver was a good villain imo because Pryce is so good at playing hateable characters. Tomorrow Never Dies is a terrible movie but Pryce was good.

Necros, the blonde dude from The Living Daylights, was also good. Young, handsome guy but sociopathically murders people while listening to 80s pop music.

Jonathan Pryce’s Carver was a good villain imo because Pryce is so good at playing hateable characters. Tomorrow Never Dies is a terrible movie but Pryce was good.

He's definitely the one I hated the most. That punchable face made him a great villain.

Silva was okay in Skyfall but they didn't make him menacing enough. It's kind of hard to get a good villain against Craig because Bond himself looks like a henchman instead of a spy.

Very underrated as a Bond. My father hated him, moreso than Lazenby (I defend "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" until the day I die though).

Most of the Bonds are terrible, even Connery's besides Dr. No and From Russia With Love. Bond works best when it is played more serious than as a straight comedy - I can only watch Roger Moore if I view it as a farce like Peter Sellers' Casino Royale.

And I like Craig's first three. Quantum was a misstep, but it works for the most part. Spectre turned into a shitshow, so I have no faith in the new one. But going back to Dalton, I'm amazed how disliked his version of Bond was when it was almost exactly like Craig's rendition, minus a little more humanity. He was a blunt instrument who didn't relish killing - he just happened to be good at it. The scene with the sniper rifle in "The Living Daylights" is a great example - there's no real quips in that scene, and Timothy Dalton shows the exhaustion and weariness of a longtime soldier on his face and through body language, saying more than any dialogue ever could.

The movie-going public really has always been stupid. No wonder Marvel makes a killing.

There is no doubt that pre-Craig, the Dalton movies are the most cutthroat. They have Felix Leiter get his fucking legs eaten by a shark in License to Kill, complete with Benicio del Toro’s amazing “honeymooooooooon” line.

The only time before Dalton that Bond has felt that ruthless was when Connery shot that dude at point blank who made a move for the gun on the floor. I think it was in From Russia With Love.

Moore’s Bond’s are the worst for me but I do enjoy the zaniness of some of them. And The Spy Who Loved Me is quite good on it’s own. But he was just too damn old to be a tough guy or sex symbol and he just karate chopped people into unconsciousness, rarely killed anybody. Dalton (and later Brosnan and Craig) just iced people when they had to. That Adam West-era Batman type violence that Moore used just stunk.

I remember the story The Living Daylights was based on definitely showed a more jaded cynical Bond and it definitely translated to the films. License to Kill is still my favorite. Robert Davi is a great villain

Dalton was a great Bond, especially license to kill since that was a pissed off bond. They meant to do more with Dalton but the rights became an issue and took years to resolve and he moved on. The most recent bond director made news because he said bond was a rapist so you know the new one will be woke bullshit. Daniel Craig wants out and they won’t be able to find a “suitable Bond” that’s a male so it will become a woman or some shit.

There's an Irish actor called Aidan Turner. A few Christmases ago I was visiting my parents and they were watching a BBC Agatha Christie and he was in it. Just remember thinking "that guy's James Bond." First of all he looks exactly how Fleming described Bond. Second, he can actually act and in this show he played a charming, suave character who also had a hint of danger about him. He could definitely pull off the seducer and charmer Bond, the action stuff he could get trained in. Two possible problems - 1) not sure if he's tall enough. 2) while he was great in a TV show, who knows if he has the charisma to pull it off on the big screen.

He's a relative unknown as far as I know. I think it'd be a better move casting someone like that than a big star. And making Bond a woman or minority will kill the franchise dead.

Brosnan is underrated because, to me, he comes across as the most intelligent out of the bunch. I still think Connery's the best because he's just a fucking man. It needs to be a combination of looks, wit, charm, masculinity, and looking like you can whip most guys without a problem.

How about we give the Aussies another shot with Chris Hemsworth? He should work on a proper English accent. He might even draw in capeshit fans to the franchise.
