I bet if Fatty drove a stick in Europe he'd be terrible at it. It's a completely different style of driving required. They don't have the big flat roads and 4 way intersections you get in the US. They have very few STOP signs, and most junctions are designed to keep traffic flowing rather than pulsing.
Roundabouts are nearly always multi lane, and the lack of stop signs means you're always riding the clutch. There are hills everywhere, especially in cities. You are constantly up or down shifting. It's why Rally is so big in Europe and almost unheard of in the US. It's second nature there.
It's also a pain in the ass and why Europeans are switching to automatics for city driving.
