“The Marvels” could be the biggest Marvel flop yet

I never saw Harry Potter because I was in high school when it came out so I wasn’t in the target audience of young children. I never had any desire to see movies of kids playing wizard unlike someone who is OLDER than me and can only watch programs made for children to sell toys. Pat is the type to brag he’s never seen movies like “The Godfather” which ii would say makes him quite the dipshit.
Exactly. I'm younger than Pat and haven't seen the Harry Potter movies because I was busy studying and trying to get pussy when the first ones came out, then joined the adult world of work after that. My kids haven't displayed any interest in watching them yet, so why would I have seen them? More to the point, why has he?

I guess I would've been in the target demographic when it came out and I don't remember it being more than a fad. Every kid saw a bunch of the movies, maybe read a couple of the books, but then everyone quickly tapped out as they got older despite the best efforts of the franchise to age with its audience. Even the geekiest consoomer chicks of that generation generally moved on to other shit. Twilight, Dr. Who, Sherlock, that sorta crap.

All the superfans are either conspicuously young or suspiciously old. People who were tweens or into their thirties back when the last film came out a decade after the first one.

That was my Harry Potter experience. I was mentally invested in the franchise but tapped out after the fourth movie and never read the books.

The books are above his reading level and he wants to experience the story.

Maybe Marvel can turn this ship around by heavily featuring drag queens as superheroes reading books to kindergartners. Or they're fighting vaccine sceptics (in time for the next manufactured global pandemic).

Yeah I’ve noticed now working with people about 10 years younger than me they were the target audience and either saw the movies / read the books and were big fans. Like one girl I work with didn’t know my age and was surprised I had never seen or read anything Harry Potter. She’s about 9 years younger than me and when they had office Halloween stuff the late 20s / early 30 were the ones that would dress up in Harry Potter costumes. Pat seeing all the movies and being 5 years OLDER than me is creepy. Plus it’s not like he watched them with his daughter he abandoned.

I remember when the first book dropped it got a huge number of kids reading again, which I think was great.

Not me of course, I was too busy watching pro wrestling, listening to Limp Bizkit, and trolling (alleged) fat girls in chat rooms. So really not that different from what I’m doing today.

I can count on one hand the amount of marvel movies I’ve seen in the last 15 years. It isn’t because I’m a cool guy it’s because they just aren’t good movies, this one looks just as bad as the rest of them to me. They are all incredibly gay, puerile unfunny shit with terrible CGI and diversity hire Mary sues.
They're all like watching someone else play a video game.
