It was all hit songs / remixes from the big hard rock / metal groups at the time. Rob Zombie, Manson, Rage, Deftones, etc and I remember they even have videos for a 1-2 of the big tracks that were made up of clips from the movie. Of course this was back in the TRL days so music videos were still being played. Piggy lived in bumble fuck fly over country and was such a loser he wasn’t even aware of the hype surrounding the movie. I think one of the big advertising campaigns was just ads asking “What is the Matrix?”
