The suit was because of the Sirius/XM merger. He Jewly argued that the the XM subscribers brought in due to the merger, should count towards totals triggering his Sirius subscriber bonus. He lost and has been phoning it in since.
Wow, that’s even worse than I thought. I just remember him yelling that he brought Sirius all their numbers (even though you have to pay extra for him so all subscribers are not getting Sirius for him) and they weren’t keeping their end of the deal that he signed. Of course once it got to court it was over quick and I don’t think he ever told his listeners what happened.

Stern never once did the persona of the tough alpha guy. He was married since college. His persona was always the loyal and devoted husband and father who was simply goofing off on air but never wanted anyone but his wife. He would try to come across as the perfect husband who would never leave his wife and was not interested in the 'shock jock' or 'rocker party' lifestyle once the microphones were turned off. Stern literally did an entire major movie about himself being a dopey country music DJ and dweeb. His image was all about his stable home environment and marriage.
It's interesting how they're both trying to deny/disguise their homosexuality, albeit in totally different ways. Howard's idea of how a heterosexual man should act involves a very visible committed love relationship with one woman, and taking a deep interest in her concerns. And Nana's idea of how a heterosexual man would behave involves openly lusting after underage girls and an overwrought disdain and disgust for relationships and women in general.
