I’m a diehard lifelong baseball fan and so far I like the new rules.
Thought I would hate the shift ban but I’m actually liking it. It’s not fun to watch defense when it’s basically just which team has the better positioning algorithm. From what I’ve seen watching Spring Training so far, we’re getting more diving plays on defense and more singles, which is exactly where the sport needs to go.
I would be against the shift ban if there were viable counter strategies against the shift - ie, if the entire team is lined up on the left side of the field and there's a 15% chance the hitter hits it to right field and can get an inside the park home run, that's very exciting. But if it's 0 then the shift sucks and makes the game boring
