That's just The Outer Worlds. I was fooled by the danger-haired cunts in the ad campaign, but the game really kicked all the ass and turned out to be New Vegas without all the fluff.
I heard it got some lukewarm reactions, and the fact that Obsidian now isn't the Obsidian that made FNV (which was a lightning in the bottle sorta deal, anyway. Some of the old Black Isle guys get a bit too much of the praise) made me a bit hesistant but you're making me want to check it out now.

The Outer Worlds is straight trash. Tim Cain (Fallout creator) was the project lead and somehow made the most 'mid' RPG of the last decade. Try it out for yourself. The themes are about on par with a fucking Michael Moore movie and the game world is too cutesy colorful. It's a straight 5/10.

I'd say the combat stinks, but the RPG side of the game (choices and consequences from your choices) is awesome. There are a few ham-fisted LGBTJEW+ stories, but when I found them I was way too deep in the side quests and they weren't intrusive. The faction system from NV returns, and the factions are really interesting and sympathetic (with a few exceptions).

Can't disagree with the fact that it has a very mid presentation. But there are story reasons (explained in-game) for the puke inducing color palette (one being that most of the planets are very much on the uninhabitable side of the scale and the flora and fauna are very aposematic).

Can't wait to hear how cuckoldry will save the planet.

It seems to be good but the immersion sucks. They made everything fast travel instead of actually flying your ship around the planet or even landing on a planet manually. You don't even get a cool animation, just a loading screen.

My biggest issue is the game is just so inconsistent both visually and gameplay wise. Some things feel like they are straight out of Oblivion from 2004 and then some things feel new and fresh. Like it still has that Bethesda the way it zooms into everyones face with robotic animations. It's unintentionally hilarious at times. The graphics look great and other times look like ass, especially when games like Red Dead 2 came out a few years ago. It's starts very slow but the game does get better after 10 hours but a lot of people will drop it before then. I spent $30 since I got it on Game Pass and just paid the early access "fee" so I'm not too bothered, but I still enjoyed FF16 and Hogwarts more so far.

FF16 had so much promise but was bogged down by all the shit between dungeons. I think my game of the year is Zelda and I didn't even expect to like it.
I have it but I haven't touched it yet. I wanted to finish BOTW first and I'm so behind on games and trying to catch up. I think I'll power through Starfield but not do every side quest and then go back to BoTW and then start the next Zelda. I'm looking forward to Zelda but I really wish it was on a more powerful machine. I hate going from these 4k games to 900p.

I gotta say that the sound design in Starfield is so good. A lot of games skimp on sound design/quality and it really ruins the game for me. Actually Bethesda is known for that in games like Prey. The game sounded like everything was taking place in the back of an empty box truck. Starfield is great though sound wise. Also, the graphics are hit and miss but the textures are amazing. Everything look super quality going through your inventory from medkits to weapons. The art style is very very good. If I hear someone else say "Nasa Punk" one more time I might throw up though.

I refunded Starfield. So many games feel like being babysat, and Starfield feels like Baby's Deluxe Space Playpen. Maybe gaming just passed me by. I remember being annoyed playing Bad Company 2 when that came out because all these elite enemy soldiers are just standing out in the open and shooting. Years later, it's all the exact same slop. I'll just keep my money if they're just going to make the graphics slightly more impressive from release to release instead of making interesting AI and systems to play in.

The AI in the game is awful and yes they hold your hand a bit too much but since I got it on Game Pass and just paid the $30 play early fee, I'm okay with that even if the game didn't live up to my expectations. I'll still get my moneys worth.

I'm still waiting for the moment when Bethesda games actually feel like they're next gen instead of being retreads of Skyrim and Fallout 4. Like you said, its a bit prettier but make no mistake it's a bethesda game at heart. Think of going from pre BoTW Zelda to BotW zelda. I'm waiting for a jump like that. Uncharted 3 to 4. Doom 3 to Doom 2016.

I think a game is better served by having systems, like Mount and Blade. Games where I feel like I'm being tard wrangled just don't cut it for me anymore. "Hey buddy, you feel like picking up these sensors for me? You want to go talk to another npc? You want to go clear out another hideout?"

A thousand planets of that is just not noteworthy to me, but I would have loved a game like this on summer vacation when I was in school, to be fair.

It's disappointing to me that every year, game graphics have to get marginally better at the cost of massive file sizes. I would prefer PS2 graphics with interesting stuff to do and AI that doesn't feel like it came from the Half-life 2 era. Gaming in general just sucks to me now.
