Without buying it, I know what the game is, how it works, what it's going to look and feel like. There may be a few new features here and there but at the end of the day, it's the same ass game with a new roster.


Now was I talking about the GTA series, or Madden. Sucks that you can't tell, and that's the problem.

So having had a little time to think about it - the trailer does show off an immense (and unlike Red Dead 2, highly active, lets say vibrant world), it does show off a bit of fairly classic Rockstar Games irreverence for modern culture, and while our main characters seem completely empty and uninteresting, they played the same card with the Michael reveal trailer with GTA V. The city is FUCKING huge - and its not the only location in the game, so even if the solo campaign is a snooze fest I think there are a lot of opportunities to create your own fun. Lucia is disarmingly generic, like a Tommy Vercetti, Claude, Michael and CJ before her, who all turned out to be legends in their own right, so I can't hate the character design. I am actually interested in where this thing goes, though I'm not soyface freaking out about it. Might get it a year or 2 after release.

GTA5 had a large city but it was devoid of content. GTA4 had probably fifty times the single player content in terms of mini-games alone. GTA5 didn't even receive any single player content or story expansions. It was abandoned for GTA Online.

Where I'm optimistic is how crowded and how interactive the AI is - during the beach shot we see a woman bend down, and a stranger take a sneaky photo of her ass. From previous leaks we know the cops are going to use tactics way ahead of the GTA V AI, surrounding, swarming, and suppressing. GTA V was built on the bones of a dead console - it's an xbox 360 game - this is dealing with a massive jump up in computing power. I am ready to be positively surprised.
