HL2 is one of the most overrated games of all time. It is literally nothing but an on rails shooter and tech demo with diversity quota characters. I would love for HL3 to come out and be dogshit but for the fans to worship it anyways no matter how awful it was. You can basically see that the talent of the Half Life team left after the first one.

Maybe I'm off my hinges but I regard Half-Life and Half-Life 2 (+episodes) as being among the greatest games I've ever played. That said, I don't worship it and the people who do are a bunch of retarded queers. I agree that the Half-Life fanbase is a genuine cringefest full of manbabies, trannies and faggots. Nothing beats the original Half-Life but I really liked the atmosphere and story of Half-Life 2. It definitely was drawn out way too long but I didn't mind it because of the way the scenery looked especially back in 2004. I can't bother myself to replay it these days but I will always remember my jaws dropping when I played those games. I played Half-Life Alyx too which just turned out to be a cheap retcon to show off their new tech and sell as many Valve VR headsets as possible. But of course the faggot HL fanbase had videos of grown adult male faggots bawling their eyes out at the ending. I think the talent left after HL2, 99% of the devs are the same between HL1 and HL2.

I agree with you on HL2. I had a shitty computer and it still ran and blew me away. I'm not going to bother playing it again after all these years since I still have fond memories of it and I'm sure it hasn't aged well since so many games tried to copy that formula in some way.

HL1 yes. But HL2? The game is terrible. Meandering nothing of a story. Awful new characters and rewriting of old characters. Absolutely abysmal world building and explanation for what is actually happening. And they turn Gordon from being a scientist into Doom Guy who can kill 10milion enemies without dying. You wipe out thousands of enemies across HL2 and its Episodes like you are playing Quake.

Literally all movie, television show, and video game fanbases are dominated by faggots online. Because all video game forums are moderated by kikes and commies and other fag types. Every fan base has a vocal minority of losers that spend all day online basically shaping the fan discussion around their own biases. They basically control reddit, fandom, various wikis, and so on.

There are better story based games than Half Life. Portal arguably has a better story and atmosphere. And Portal has very little shooting or fighting enemies in it. Just puzzles, exploration, good game mechanics, and a basic but well written story inspired by movies like Cube. HL2 is endless on rails lazy shooting over and over with a nonsensical story that collapses upon examination.

I would argue that Dead Space 1 is actually much better than Half Life 1. And maybe even Mass Effect 1. And the shooting and jumping mechanics in HL1 and nothing compared like UT, Quake, CS, and skill based shooters.

People like that are usually getting paid by whatever they are promoting. Pretty much any social media page that covers a topic is some sort of marketing gimmick. Like those huge movie reviewer groups that are clearly getting invited to sets and premiers and given stuff under the table for favorable reviews.

Yup exactly I'm pretty sure HL2 was the first FPS to feature the post-soviet setting and apocalyptic atmosphere, and then literally every game after it even to this day copied it in one way or another. The memories also keep me from playing it again, as I'm sure it will only result in disappointment and staining those deeply-rooted memories. Although I did like Portal and Portal 2 as well and those were made long after the talent at Valve left. I can see why they attract the tranny/pedo audience, but they're still good games that also tie into the HL universe. CSGO is pretty much the only Valve game I play anymore, and only because CSS became practically 100% dead a few years ago. A little warzone on the side too.

I find myself just playing older games these days. All these new releases are absolute garbage with like 1 or 2 a year being good. Elden Ring was flawed but better than everything else last year and I really enjoyed it. Everything now feels like it's made by a committee of faggots that have a list of check boxes that need to be met. They are more concerned of not offending anyone and putting niggers and women in everything than just making something fun.

That's what's great about games. There are 30+ years of them and I guarantee there are hidden gems from everyone's favorite era that they haven't played. Granted 80% of them were duds in the past too but there were still lots of unknown ones worth playing. Yeah maybe the graphics weren't as good but if graphical fidelity matters to you then you don't really like games.

I never played HL1 but I played HL2 around 2006 and wasn't impressed. Seemed like it was one of those things you had to have been there for. Lots of boring, over-long driving sections where you stop every five minutes to explore a room or two to find the switch that opens the path again.

Idk man I feel like the combat between both HL1 and HL2 are pretty much the same. You're an indestructible doom guy in both.

You can basically run through HL1 without fighting though. And a lot of the killing of the big monsters is done with you using the environment to kill them. Not your guns. The only major boss battle in HL1 is Xen where the game loses its way because they had to rush the ending and so they just made a big dumb boss battle to end the game. HL2 is scripted in that you move from room to room clearing every enemy. The game sends waves of mindless zombie hordes of enemies that just die. Very repetitive.

In HL2 they clearly wanted you to kill everything to show off the physics of the various guns and ragdoll effects. So you are constantly shooting things and blowing things up. It becomes very dull when you are just doing a tech demo. Go into new area, get guns, kill enemies that spawn in some haphazard way, move to next area.

I can see why you'd think the story of HL2 is nothing, it's pretty much 15 minutes worth of story dragged out over a 10 hour video game just to show off tech.

It's not just that. Stuff like draining earth of all of its water should basically kill everyone. The aliens could just make portals that take our oceans and leave. Why go through the nonsense of like organized ghettos and alien slave janitors? Stuff like that is just poor writing and makes no sense. These aliens could make portals at the bottom of the ocean, drain the oceans dry, then leave earth without anyone stopping them.

This is not quality science fiction this is the writing of a 3rd grader but in a AAA game.

Mind if I ask if you played though all of HL2 and the episodes? Personally I rank them Ep2>HL2>Ep1 best to worst for story. Actually I think there was more story in Episode 2 than all of the other HL games combined if my memory serves me correctly.

HL1 > > HL2 > Ep2 > Ep1 > Alyx. HL1 has the best atmosphere and story, and that includes Opposing Force and Blue Shift. I like the simplistic tale of a portal into another world gone wrong (clearly inspired by The Mist). HL2 goes off the rails with the alien invasion and never really gets better in my opinion. The entire plot makes no sense at all and narrative is all over the place.

I honestly doubt that HL3 could have a good story based on where HL2 is. They would almost need to retcon HL2 entirely away.

FEAR is still one of my all time favorite shooters. I usually end up replaying it every few years and I always love the combat and encounters with the enemy AI. It feels a lot more fresh and fun to play for me than a lot of current shooters. The only gripe I have is the environments are a bit bland and the "scary" moments start to become old after a while.

FEAR 2 was a step down and felt like it was made with consoles in mind and FEAR 3 was a god awful attempt at making a coop based game and it no longer resembled anything that made the first game good. Its too bad that game seemed to have killed the series.

Another shooter series I enjoy are the Metro games, they are slower paced and more story driven, but I really love the atmosphere and I find them very immersive.
