I haven't read this thread so maybe somebody has brought this up, but it's torque that causes a car to accelerate quickly, not horsepower. A Nissan Leaf has 110hp but because its electric motor has more torque available from a standing start it would win a drag race any day against his Amber Heard car.

If you take the same engine and put it in a lighter vehicle you also have more torque available and can accelerate quicker. What I'm saying is that he's weighing it down, and the Toyota would perform better with a lighter, better driver.

The 4.6 was just a shitty design. The newer 5.0 coyote is fantastic.Just the design in general. It can accept modification 100x better. Pat just got stuck buying an obsolete engine at the tailend of its production life. Now he thinks his 300hp is still something to brag about when FWD camrys and civic type Rs make the same type of power. Pat is stuck doing stoplight launches with dads on a beer run and high school kids in their first car. His car would get smoked by any of the "cool fast cars" built in the last 5 years.
