I’m no Elon dick rider but some of these takes are laughable. Every Tesla that is built is sold before it leaves the factory and has been for years. I agree that they hype is off the charts but still you can’t deny that it is hugely successful. The overall company hasn’t been hugely profitable because they are spending so much on R&D and expanding manufacturing capacity. The profit margin on an individual car is crazy though, much higher than other car companies

and spaceX surviving in government “handouts”, if by handouts you mean contracts then sure. The government pays them a lot to launch stuff into space which they’ve been doing successfully now for years because NASA is too inept to do it themselves. out of all the social networking services by far twitter is the easiest to use and most accessible. I still don't think he's buying Twitter, or even trying to reshape it. I think it's just a pump-and-dump - buy shares, build up the hype to send the price through the roof, and then quietly sell.

First he talked about starting his own Twitter clone, then he bought a bunch of shares, then they announced he'd be joining the board, then he refused to join the board, now he's talking about buying it outright. In the last month it's gone from $33 to $50, so if Elon's quietly selling now, he's made a heck of a profit.
