So, at XM Erik was a Producer. Steve was a Producer. Ben was Executive Producer. Ben got fired/left and Steve became Executive Producer. Erik was fucking up so hard, they demoted him to Associate Producer and promoted me to Producer. The clip you're talking about is when they promoted Than to Senior Producer. So that now made the chain of command: Steve, Than, Danny..Erik. I forget Travis' official position at the time, probably Producer and Sam was Associate. So basically he got demoted down to new hire Sam level, while I took his spot and Than established a middle ground between Steve and the rest of us. As far as whatever it was specifically they are talking about, either I never knew or forgot. Eventually I became Senior Producer and Erik was bumped back up to Producer. I don't recall anytime where Erik and I both shared Senior Producer titles. Don't forget, Erik was the in-studio board op on CBS at first, until he couldn't even do that and I was called in to take over until CBS ended. Listen to how fucking angry Than is in that clip. The annoyance with Erik wasn't just me. You can hear Than's frustration with Steve too.

Was this the "thing I'm not allowed to talk about" that Nagel and Steve refer to on air during some fight when him being passed over is brought up? This was easily the worst part of the show. Anytime the boys were exposed to a woman who was a 4 they’d trip over their dicks to fuck them. Countless times when they’d cover Scott and Todd Jim would ask to get their shit intern “Annie” on air. When Opie goes “Be honest, you want to try to fuck her.” Norton goes “NO DUDE HONESTLY GENUINELY I WANT TO SEE WHAT SHE HAS TO SAY ABOUT THE SHOW DUDE HONESTLY”. Then him simping over that shitty woman on Scorchs show, when he almost killed himself because that intern slept with “””his””” prostitute, etc.

And I noticed you left out a name who’s probably the worst offender…fucking Anthony. Jesus christ. I’ve never heard a more pathetic man in my life, and it wasn’t some “good cop bad cop” shit like he said. This is a man who gave 24 hour anniversary cards. When some dumb porn whore came in studio he would fawn over them and act like a little boy. If Opie or Patrice started attacking them he would call them “evil misogynistic men”. He went out to apologize to one of the whores after they were insulted. Then, of course, when the whores left Anthony would insult them and say what he was REALLY thinking.

To be honest witcha I never got Opies hatred of Fez on air. I won’t speak for off air but whenever they covered some shit Fez did, for Opie it was the “Fuck Fez” hour. And then when Fez decided to do his Opie impression and shit all over him Opie had the nerve to get pissy. For some reason. I’m not a R&F guy at all but Fez breaking down was funnier / more entertaining than most of what Opie did.

I still have to get around to it all but i’ve been writing up where the Jocktobered shows / hosts are now. You’d be surprised how many of them died or just don’t work in radio anymore. (Not surprising considering radio is just a dead format)

The crazy thing about Lazlow was that the guy should have been interesting. He worked for a company that made some of the biggest games of this century, hangs out with the 2600 guys, wrote for Playboy, takes month long vacations in Thailand (wait... wha?) and yet still he is complete and total bore.

The only good thing that came out of Lazlow's connection to OnA was when one of his co-hosts reported that he used to smoke crack at the Queens Motor Inn when Bobo wanted to take Christina there for some romantic pussy-diving.

THAT was a problem, divorced from any personal shit, because its a work issue: Employees feel pressured to say yes because they fear repercussions for NOT watching this guy jerk off.

Yeah but not everyone who lived an interesting life could tell a story and be entertaining. Opie knew this better than anyone as when a guest or caller was tanking he would just destroy the segment or hang up on them. There were times where someone would tell a story and it would go nowhere and O&A would gently let them off the hook. But other times they would viciously attack them like hyenas.

Lazlow was one of those friends of the show that Opie couldn't bring himself to shit on for being a boring douche. But someone like Shawna Lenee or Kristen Bell or whatever you could just destroy the segment for the good of the audience.

The whole Jimmy Snuka murdering his girlfriend was a prime example of this. Sometimes they would have WWE guys on and they could hang with the show or just act like maniacs like Iron Sheik and it made for good radio. But Snuka was boring and had nothing to offer. So Opie decided to get him to tell the 'dead girlfriend' story, knowing that he would ask the question at the end, "what is she up to now?" knowing that she was dead just to force some extreme awkwardness on the air.

No other show had ever done that to Snuka or did since. And it was so ridiculous that it caught Snuka off guard enough to answer the question in way that the police reopened the investigation. It was the first time someone actually pressed him on that story and of course he wasn't really prepared to answer and got himself into huge trouble. And it all stemmed from Opie knowing that the segment was boring and wanting to just take it into the 'cringe' direction. Unfortunately he never did that with Lazlow as it would meant losing their voice acting gigs. So the audience had to suffer under Lazlow's awful personality and voice and bombing jokes.
