I reject your premise anyways bc it's an appeal to emotion or whatever. If the jury felt sympathy for the kids to the point it clouded their ability to make a legal analysis, then they wrongly convicted. The right to self defense is a more important issue to me than making sure some no good, rat bastard teens are avenged bc they misread the situation and saw a mark when they should have seen a shark.
