I set my vpn to Greenland and get much less ads. Different regions of the world sometimes have very few ads

smart tube next works great on fire tv and android tv and it even skips the sponsored content shit! you have to sideload it but after that it's easy to update if it stops working.

Honestly, just set up a spare laptop as a home media computer into you tv, and get a Logitech k400 bluetooth keyboard+touchpad to use as the couch controller. By far the easiest thing and opens up infinitely more possibilities than trying to unjew the shitty smartTV software.
