But this zoomer horror shit from the past couple years, it's beyond me

the problem with zoomer horror/thriller is that every fucking movie beats you over the head with social commentary.
"It turns out that the scary monster was racism/gentrification/AI/closeted homosexuality all along!"

And yes, I'm aware that social commentary has been used in movies forever, but most of the shit from the last 5 or so years lacks any sort of subtlety. I blame Jordan Peele for that trend. I don't watch horror movies to learn a lesson or have a better understanding of myself or the world around me. I watch them to see scary monsters and gore, so i can jerk off afterwards.
