Where we at with the NFL?

It’s a nice distraction but some people are way too into it. “We really gotta win this one!” Do ya??

Baseball is mundane favorite but it’s gotten boring as fuck since the owners all colluded to live and die by analytics and home runs. Walk. Strikeout. Walk. Strikeout. Mound visit. Walk. Strikeout. Ty Cobb was right one hundred years ago when he said home runs will ruin the game.

Every player swings for the fences every swing. No matter the count no matter the game situation. They’re worried about their stat lines for when they hit free agency. I went to a game and the hitters in the dugout all just stare at iPads when they don’t hit. Hey dipshit the pitcher is right in Front of you.

The pitchers are also way too good now so there is no offense. It users to be someone who threw 95 was a real power arm. Nowadays 90% of these guys throw 97+ w nasty breaking stuff. I think moving the mound back 3-5 feet and making the K zone bigger would do a lot but what do I know. Container of coffee, job site.

I'm more of an NHL fan. Rare for a spic, but I just think it's a better game to watch. They're talented athletes.

The NFL is full of overpaid faggots.

From what I’ve heard, Ty Cobb was right about a lot of things.

And they all just read off of a card to know where to shift, what pitches to throw, etc. Theyre like robots with zero instinct because of it.

Totally true. Situational hitting, stealing bases, pitchers going deep into games, they're all lost arts. In Dwight Gooden's legendary 1985 season he threw 16 complete games. I seriously doubt there were more than ten CGs in all of MLB this season. Sixth inning, 87 pitches, they pull the starter and need three more pitchers just to finish out the game. Fucking pussies.

Yeah, there's a really annoying hysteria with the NFL nowadays, where every game is CRUCIAL and every single thing is VITALLY IMPORTANT. Sometimes a week five clash between the Jets and the Jaguars is just another stupid football game and not a landmark event.

This is because of steroids and other drugs. They are blowing out their arms and tearing their arms up very often. The sports science is very clear. When you pitch on steroids you need to rest far more often. There was talk in MLB about expanding rosters for pitchers a few years ago but it never went anywhere. There are lots of college and high school kids that throw many complete games and even throw long relief without injury. Because their bodies are naturally healing and their muscles are naturally developed.

Today's baseball is almost unrecognizable because of steroids. Every hitting and pitching record has been broken since the 80s basically. You have record K/9, HRs, OPS, ERA/ERC in the last two decades that basically shatter everything else.

There were actually 50 complete games thrown this year, but all of your points remain

Nick Rochefort is the funniest person alive right now. No podcaster, comedian, or radio show host is even close. The guy gets off a 60 hour work week and just riffs gold. He's like every funny person you've ever worked with rolled into one.

Most retarded take ever. Nobodys taken steroids since 2003, they’ve been getting tested like horses since then. And back in the steroid era, you had Roger Clemens, Pettite, etc, throwing insane amounts of innings.
Its just about how players are developed now. If you never give them a chance to throw more than 100 pitches, their arms arent gonna know how

that's like saying nobody in the nfl takes steroids lmao.
you kind of embarrassed yourself calling his take retarded when your take is the apex of retarded. they all take steroids, every single one of them. you can start a cycle oct 1 and get it out of your system feb 1,that's 16 weeks and is the definition of a standard bb cycle. and pitchers dont even report until mid feb. they can even take 8-10 week anavar- tbol/dbol cycles and put on legit 10 15 lbs of muscle. testing is ia joke. it really isnt rocket science. same shit with ufc. just like nate diaz said, everyone is on juice. it's just hush hush now, the same way you cant openly say nigger or jap but eveeryone is still racist. the only people who get caught are dumb niggers like robinson cano who dont know how to PCT properly

I’ve personally believed the MLB was well aware and encouraged steroid use in the late 90s / early 2000s. After the 94 strike baseball had some BAD years, I remember nobody gave a shit about baseball after the strike and it showed with the near empty stadiums in the mid 90s. It wasn’t until the home run race between Sosa / McGwire that got attention and made people watch again. Once they got fans back and it became super obvious certain players were on the juice MLB cracked down to “protect” the sport. Of course as testing goes its led to the development of different / better drugs that aren’t yet banned which is a benefit to the MLB, they test to show they’re about protecting the game but their tests don’t find the latest PE drugs.

That's amazing, I had no idea there were that many. You hear a lot about how much more dominant modern pitchers are but hardly anyone talks about the fact that hitters are way, way worse than they've ever been before. It's all hack hack hack now, guys who hit with their heads are a dying breed, anachronisms. Studying pitchers, working counts, waiting on pitches, going the other way, proper bunting, they're dying arts.

In all sports everyone always denigrates the previous generations and convinces themselves that the peak of everything is right now, but fact is that MLB was simply a better game before it morphed into strikeout/homer ball. Thirteen pitching changes in a 5-4 nine inning game, guys striking out 9 and 10 times in a row with increasing frequency, games coming down to which reliever serves up a dinger first, it's become tedious. There used to be a cerebral quality to it that just seems gone now.

Another thing that blows about MLB right now: the terrible, shitty, no-good umps they employ right now. They'll spend eight minutes on determining if the runner's wristband grazed the bag before the ball got there on a pickoff attempt, then some total buffoon will totally ruin a game with totally mindless and obviously wrong ball and strike calls. They've gotten WAY worse over the last several years.

Similar thing could be said about the NBA, you watch a game from 20-25 years ago and the refs just let them play which made for great games. Now everything is a penalty which makes a fast paced sport move at a snails pace. Every player (especially LeBron) pretends a slight breeze from another player Makes them fly back ten feet to draw fouls and stop the game. The last 5 minutes of a game now takes 20 minutes due to all the stopping for flopping. Bunch of pussies if you ask me, child.

Ok fine, they still juice to some degree, but it has nothing to do with the decline of pitchers throwing innings. In the 90s, when players were juicing out of their fucking skulls, pitchers were still throwing long as ever. It really didnt start becoming an issue until the past 10 years when player development started being run by a bunch of fucking nerds on Excel spreadsheets.

I think taking away plate collisions and takeout slides was a bigger travesty than any of that shit. Its always depressing when a dude gets caught dead to rights at the plate now, and they just fucking stop and hug each other. That used to be my favorite play.

Football too. You watch one of those "hardest hits" NFL videos from the 80s or 90s and every one of those plays are wildly illegal now. Back then they'd play goofy car crash sound effects over guys clotheslining one another. Now they'd be instantly suspended for life.

Another major thing that has changed the game has been pitchers using substances for grip and stealing signs with cameras. The new formulas for grip are insane. Guys used to use some pine tar or whatnot or scuff the ball. Now they have hired chemists and create all sorts of sticky compounds using spider tack or reduced soda it is insane. And the sign stealing is probably the most hilarious form of cheating I have ever seen. When you watch those Astros videos of them banging on the trash cans it is hysterical.
