I remember those popcorn balls being handed out and we would use them as a baseball and watch them explode when being hit with a broom stick bat.
Why do I have a feeling that you were still trick or treating at 15? And by trick or treating I mean senseless vandalism while taking the occasional stop for candy.

I stopped the candy trick or treating by 7th grade and I was about 11. Vandalism started that year and ended senior year. We would egg things, paintball kids, and a few times stole a car.

Good times!

Breaking stereotypes as always.
What's funny is there was just about every racial ethnicity in my little crew. We even had a Vietnamese kid joined us. I remember we stole a car from Charlestown and it broke down on in the tunnel leading leaving Boston and heading towards the Tobin bridge. We had to run the length of the bridge to get back to Chelsea. We left the car in the tunnel and when we got to the Chelsea offramp some guy yelled at us for running on road and gave us a ride the rest of the way. One of my fondest memories. It was absolutely terrifying running along that bridge at night so high up.

Growing up in the sticks, we always had access to cars bc keys would be out and everyone had 3-4 cars at their house. Ya got your weekend pickup, you dot your ratty daily driver so you didn't put miles on the nice pickup etc etc. it was not strange to see a 11 year old at the wheel on country roads (and come harvest time they also drive the combines and tractors). I was in middle school trying to show a friend how to drive stick in his dad's Ford Fiesta and he put it in the ditch. we had to walk home 5 miles down a gravel road

This kid Angel Acevedo had some sort of Master Key that worked on older model Toyotas and Hondas. He was a true menace and extremely fun to hang around with and ended up being a King. He died in 2010 getting shot in his face as he was sleeping. Double murder. Never even reached 25 years old.

Just to add, we never once destroyed or even damaged a car that we stole. We would just abandon them or they'd break down as we drove them. I was about 12 when I took the wheel for the night and I remember driving by police who didn't even bat an eye at us. Lol.
