What's the last video game you were excited for and enjoyed?

I purchased Mass Effect 3 (2012) and Dead Space 3 (2013) right when they came out and they were both abysmal. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance was in 2013 and the game still holds up well and is probably the newest game I own that I can still play. Everything else I play seems to be from 2010 or earlier or even from the 90s like Diablo II or Unreal Tournament.

Pretty much every old franchise is dead or produces mediocre or terrible games. And new games are designed for mobile fags and tiktok users. Gaming as an industry hasn't been geared towards adults or hardcore gamers since the Xbox 360 generation.
I never even finished ME 3 or DS 3, couldn't get interested enough.

I enjoyed Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. I didn't like the opening but they really nailed the ending and improved on Breath of the Wild in many ways.

I want to play Metroid Dread but not sure I will get to it.

I wish I could say Civ VII, but I can't even say that. Thanks DEI.

Looking forward to the new Doom game. Doom 2016 and Eternal were fantastic. Since the formula for the game is pretty simplistic: fight in arena and kill enemies for health, so hopefully they dont fuck it up.

I want to get excited for the new Bioshock game Judas but whenever I hear "multiple endings" it's always gimmicky bullshit. It's Bioshock but in space!, but definitely not System Shock!
Bioshock(1&2) and deadspace(1&2) are probably the last games I liked, so despite no longer playing video games I may look into this one.

Why they never made it into a online game is beyond me.
They re-released it with animated cut-scenes and local multiplayer. That feature never made it beyond the PSP I think. There is a game called Fell Seal that I really enjoyed and is a total homage. The game is butt ugly and doesn't even think to reach the plot of FFT, but the game play is damn near on the money.

Those games are best played back to back as quickly as possible. If you take a long break between games, especially the Mass Effect games, you will be completely lost when you come back. If I play New Vegas then stop and come back a year later I have to just play from a new game at that point because I become completely lost. But who has the time to play the entire Mass Effect trilogy anymore unless you are unemployed and have no family?

Civilization VI was awful compared to V. That franchise is probably forever dead as well.
