I always thought he was when he wanted to be. Like a lot of stand up comics Jimmy was a fucking hack but most of the time he could mix things up enough when Gregg and Two Shirts hit a lull. His angry man bit as forced as it could be at times could be pretty funny.

Once it was just him and another mic his lack of preparation, a solid co host to work off of and any outlier motivation to improve his interview skills tanked any possibility for the worm to be remotely entertaining. And Patrice was right. Norton is whatever you pour him into.

He either regressed to outright hostility or subservience to whoever he was interviewing. And if he wasn’t the main interviewer he went into a complete daze. That’s what bothers me the most about him. He’s not untalented just lazy. He could carry J&S if he still gave a care but he doesn’t.

He also raped a girl on a table. Thanks, Ralphie.

No, he was mostly a bore. An entitled, lazy drama queen who quashed more bits than he created. There are a few funny clips like “Jimmy Hates Sports Talk” and when he reads Frank Vincent’s book but those are few and far between. I can’t think of a comic who would be worse than Jim as third mic. Maybe Joe DeRosa but even that’s a toss-up. Give Vic Henley the same job for 15 years and I guarantee you he’d have more classic moments.

The Ozzie birthday gifts was one of the funniest moments ever for the show. Without Jimmy we would have never had such a wonderful moment

Norton ruined the show. He made it formulaic and everything was a fetish joke. He had his moments but he needed to stfu more. When he wasn't distracting hmself, he was distracting Anthony

Funny Stuff Jim Did on da Show

What did you actually find funny that Jim did? I always found the Ramone calls hilarious, it is dumb but it always made me laugh. The mix of embarrassment and confusion of the recipient was always gold

Management always wanted to fire Norton because of how lazy he was and replace him with a full time comic like Burr or even Patrice. But Opie stuck up for Norton and said that the dynamic of the show was fine with a 'part time' third mic that did other gigs on the side. Norton of course backstabbed Opie at every turn like a pathetic coward. Opie also traveled to support lots of Norton's big standup gigs far more than Anthony.

Some of the funniest moments on the show are from Norton. And some of the best shows are from times he was absent. Out of three main hosts he had the ability to drag the show down more than anyone. Repeatedly bringing whores and UFC fighters on the show. His vague rants at things that he would not be specific about like the time police ticketed him and he did an hour about how "shit the NYPD were" but refused to reveal to anyone, including O&A, what he was ticketed for. This lead to Opie putting callers on air who ripped on Norton for being an idiot and Norton complaining to both O&A off the air after the break.

Do people here honestly think that another comic would have followed a stolen bus? Bought Ozzy books? Called in as Steve from Yellowstone? Ranted about Jeter's lack of autographs? Had stories like Devil's Creek and Monster Rain? Dreamed of KISS pushing him down a flight of stairs to then comfort him? Bring guests like Roy Den Hollander to the show? Talked to guests as Uncle Paul? Talked about hookers and prostitutes openly? Ripped on birds for being 'oil thieves'? Cried over Roger Ebert's android voice?

Norton the person is obviously scum of the earth. But Norton the comic or third mic? One of the funniest people to have ever lived. I swear all of you are Pat posting faggots who never listened to the show.

His funny moments are vurry few and far between though, especially towards the end of the show. Once the flirting with Anthony began it was all over

Objectively, Norton was ONLY good as a third mic who threw out funny lines. What he was NOT good at was being a comedian or acting like part of the show. Some of the worst segments of O&A were Jimmy being fiercely fucking loyal, simping for photographs, simping for pornwhores, doing serious interviews in his self degrading style, yelling at callers who confronted him, complaining about his life and just broooding, I could go on. But sadly this is the only way O&A would have worked. People like Rich and Bobby, while they can be funny, operated as punching bags on the show and wouldn’t be fit for 3rd mics. Patrice had his moments but would have overpowered the show if he was on all the time.

A lot of what Jimmy contributed to the show that was funny was humiliating for him. I still find the original Monster Rain segment funny only because of how embarrassing it is for Norton. Nortons degenerate childhood stories, getting molested for stealing Star Wars figures, his imaginary characters, getting beat up by Kiss, playing a boombox with Sabbath outside a girls house, “Shuuuuut up!!”, the moment he asked a girl to kiss him by asking her “Do you know what my favorite band is?”.

Besides that even Nortons comedic quips as a third mic were lacking, and when you relisten to old shows you can guess which joke he’ll make based entirely on the setup: Retard = Pete Rose hairdo. Black people = Hat removal. Hot woman? = I want to tongue her shitter. Mention of a baby? = HAHAHA REPAINT THE ROOM AND SELL THE CRIB!!!! Puddle of aids, shotgun toe trigger, I could go on.
