That looks interesting..
Actually that's pretty cool how they set that up as I'm sure this is all COBOL era dinosaur shit.
It can basically handle international numerical formatting and everything with the UNA section

Yeah you're right this is much better than object oriented garbage, very simple.

I was thinking more unabomber type deal

I felt really guilty I didn’t put that bird out of its misery the other day. I wouldn’t harm anybody.

I’ll harm the environment because it’s funny though, same with the feelings of blacks and trannies and so forth.

It works. So there’s no point changing it too drastically, lots of people advocate for change for the sake of it now. It’s proven it works for decades but I have no doubt some wolf of Wall Street type will find a way to uproot it with AI or something to pump up stock prices, and then not care of the impact afterwards

I'd rather work with EDIFACT than XML.

It’s mostly simple XML soap wrappers, it’s an easy job and it pays well because people are allergic to understanding anything now.

If you aren’t good enough to get really good at something, just learn something niche and find a corner for it.

This doesn't look too bad. I mostly hate xslt shit about xml, I feel like this should be handled somewhere outside of a storage format. Maybe there are some really out-there edge cases but I hate this shit conceptually, why should data transform itself?

XML could STEP AWFFF :serch_sm:

I probably wrote some of the source material for that page, that’s all I do 40 hours a week lol.

It’s soul destroying but every job is.

The EDIFACT protocol itself is interesting stuff. Thanks for the read. It's probably the XML and not the EDIFACT that's crushing your soul brothaman.
Just don't forget to learn your own stuff outside of that shit to keep an interest.

It’s the fact I don’t use the systems as a user, so I don’t know what’s wrong with them unless someone tells me, but apparently the onus is on me to be physic and just know everything.

Then, when they do tell me what’s wrong as a user, they don’t give me examples or any information to replicate the steps. I just have to magically know.

It’s the attitude we both talked about, “I don’t need to understand it, it should just work all the time in the way I want it to, regardless if I’m using it correctly or not” - we have boomers who have spent 30 years doing part of the process who don’t know why they do it, what happens before or after their steps or who to contact for anything regarding the journey of their process.

It’s insane.
