The Simpsons
I'd give them all of season 3 plus 10 and 11, because there was still some funny shit near the end.End portion of Season 3 to the first episode of Season 9 - that's the Pinnacle of the whole series, 5-1/2 years.
It's now been on for over 30.
Out of 716 episodes (as of the last new airing), I would safely say only 125 of them are remotely worth watching. Now, those ones are amazing, but look how much aren't.
I was already pissed this morning about a weak rehearsal, now doing this research just depressed me.

What really mitigates the quality of the show is the episodes that have Lisa as the main focus. She's just a shit character. The one where Lisa becomes a vegetarian is just about her being a judgmental bitch toward her family. It's depressing. The episode where Bleeding Gums Murphy dies sucks too.
A mate of mine and I went through the seasons and we settled it: season 6 is the greatest, with season 8 being a close second... without those seasons, the entire series is actually pretty mediocre. South Park's run was way better in hindsight.
Season 4 is great. It has my personal favourite, Homer The Heretic, as well as Kamp Krusty, Itchy & Scratchy: The Movie, Mr. Plow, Monorail, Last Exit, Whacking Day and Krusty Gets Cancelled.South Park had a very consistent writing team and show-runners - Matt and Trey. Even when they grew the writers room, they still kept it in control. People can shit on the show now all they want, and some of it's deserved, but they've held to a pretty good quality over a long period.
As for Seasons 6 and 8, 8 is definitely the second best just because, for as good as Season 7 was, Oakley and Weinstein built on 7 and were far better in 8. So much greatness in that year, with Hank Scorpio and Frank Grimes alone being lifelong favorites. Hell, Grimes is what I think Pat is when he's alone with himself.
As for 6? Really good, but I give the edge to 4. Something about that year, when all the first wave of writers were leaving, new ones like Conan O'Brien were bleeding in, and everyone just said "Fuck it" and started doing the crazy shit I loved. Mal and I can watch "Last Exit to Springfield" anytime and still laugh at it, well into "Krusty Gets Cancelled".

Season 6 is on another level, though.
Bart of Darkness (the pool episode)
Itchy and Scratchy Land
Sideshow Bob Roberts (he becomes the mayor of Springfield)
Homer Badman (top five best episode)
Grampa vs. Sexual Inadequacy
Fear of Flying
Homer the Great (Freemason episode)
Bart's Comet
Homie the Clown
Bart vs. Australia
A Star is Burns (top five best episode)
Two Dozen and One Greyhounds
The Springfield Connection (Marge becomes a cop)
Lemon of Troy
Who Shot Mr. Burns pt. I
That's a big season, my friend. I don't think they had one better than that; they were on a roll that year.
There's one, someone ruin Twin Peaks for me.
Honestly this one holds up. Watched it this year and still found it enjoyable. Even the boomer nostalgia wasn't too annoying.Post something you think is good, and we point out the flaws

Not sure if there’s ever going to be a show with a better run than South Park. At least 15 solid seasons in a row. Arguably 17-18. Well over 200 good episodes. Their filler used to be better than 99% of comedy. It was going to go down eventually. Matt and Trey are both worth a retarded amount, they’re old, they’ve just lost any edge they had. They are way more mainstream now. Still, who’s gonna take that throne from them at this point? Even eastbound and down wasn’t as good by the 4th season.South Park had a very consistent writing team and show-runners - Matt and Trey. Jeez, Minaw. Ya’ll gonna do a ninja like that? They put shit in the chocolate that makes it taste like vomit. Now you will never enjoy them.
Edit: beaten to the fawkin punch but I can't eat that stuff anymore after hearing that.
The nigger wins in the end. Unless it was some deeper meaning of how they will always win in the end and there is nothing you can do about it.Dragged Across Concrete
