Conan and Leno are the same person just Leno inherited the Tonight Show from Carson and took his audience. We know that Leno is a bottomless pit of mediocrity. And willing to stab anyone in the back or front to preserve his place in show business. The creepy stories of him hiding in the closets and offices at CBS to eavesdrop on meetings about him and Letterman are disturbing and make him look like a complete lunatic.

He's also one of the ugliest people to host a television show. Offensively ugly. He has a face for radio and a voice for print. But finagles his way into hosting a massive network show for decades. Jay never had children so I assume he's a closet faggot.

Leno hiring Stuttering John is legitimately one of the most unintentionally funny things in show business though. Him taking John on thinking that John was writing his own jokes even though it was all Jackie and Fred. Then slowly phasing and icing John out of NBC (and show business entirely). Then John losing all of his millions in the divorce and rumored gambling and drugs. And now John having to work as a substitute teacher (which he is alleged to have just been fired from).

John went from making probably $1 million a year for a few years to being beyond broke and mentally gone. He's probably had one of the hardest falls from grace in show business history but he's so obscure that no one noticed outside of Stern or O&A fans.

Letterman’s shtick was always being ironically smarmy and above-it-all, Conan’s was halfway between ironic nerd and ironic old-timey nerd. They were similar in that all late night hosts are similar, but Conan didn’t steal Letterman’s personality.

Also as much as I know this is going to get me roasted, Kimmel was pretty hilarious during all this. Leno had him on for some segment and Kimmel tanked the bit by confronting Leno about the Conan thing (“stop taking our jobs, we don’t all have thirty car garages”). Granted, Leno’s people still chose to air the bit so maybe it was all a work, who knows. Kimmel also did an entire monologue in character as Leno and did a pretty brutal impersonation of Leno and his humor, down to his bandleader overlaughing at every joke.

Ferguson is still the best. Went out on top, didn’t really give a fuck what anyone thought about what he was doing.

Those Kimmel as Leno bits were funny. Kimmels show was great in the beginning as everyone was drunk and he let Carolla do all kinds of shit. Carolla got to turn a bunch of stupid joke ideas he had into skits they aired on Jimmys show. I believe I still have some on tape somewhere but haven't had the chance to try to find them.

I would say Box Office Poison(I had him saying that as my notification sound for quite some time. Now it’s Nathan For You “oh would you like me to park your car?”) is at the tip top of Normdom but I’d put all his Letterman appearances from getting canned from SNL as his best late night moments.

What's wrong with Edinburgh? I visited for 2 nights as part of a bus tour thru Scotland and Ireland this past spring. I enjoyed my little tour of the castle on the hill there. Stayed at a nice golf course resort right outside town. Id probably go back and see it again. Though I'll probably go see those islands you got first...Shetlands or something? They looked lovely on a travel documentary I recently watched.

Moving from there to Poznan was night and fucking day. Poland in general is so kind and warm, the people have been amazing. Rarely did I ever feel that in Edinburgh.

Or maybe they all just hated Stiltskin THAT much.
