The first time I ever heard this was in the 80s. My older sister and some of her friends went into NYC to see a movie. It was some independent thing playing at one little theater somewhere in SOHO sort of thing. My father volunteered to pick them up at the train station in NJ afterwards.

Sister and her friends get in the car. My dad asks 'how was the movie?' my sister says to him ......

It wasn't a movie dad. It was a FILM.

My dad kicks all three of them out of the car and says 'when you decide to be less pretentious I might let you back in my car I mean, automobile.'

One of the funniest things I ever witnessed.

You think this is aggravating? Memba when I said Italians want to be Americans? In Italy, people LOVE to shoehorn English terms, it's even more ridiculous! It's just like the wannabe Italians in America. The difference is that in America they at least are humorous about it, in Italy they do it to show off how "chic" they are, nobody involved is bilingual.

They barely say "è una buona localizzazione" anymore, now it's all "è un buon location".
There's even a law, that should be called "legge della privatezza/privacità", but is called "legge della privacy". It's the whole fucking country! Imagine that almost everyone in America talked like Dice, all the time?

People who refer to major cities as "towns" to signal to you that they are experienced big city urbanites should also be gassed. Hipster faggot Derosa used to do that. "It's a great town" referring to a city of millions.

Whoa, this guy must have been around the block a few times!
It seems Jewish. It's not a city unless there's a cathedral in it.

It used to bother me when Marc Maron said it then I read a few Jack Kerouac books and realized it’s from some off brand bs hippy brand of people called beatniks.
Another example of Maron trying to sound cool was referring to headphones as "cans" because he heard musicians/audiophiles say it. Thankfully ultra autist Steve Albini immediately shut him down for saying it.

A niche drumming one I hear from balding pony tail Brother Joe types is referring to cymbals as "pies" (they're both round, get it?!). Boomers always chest thumping their hip speak to signal refinement & experience, but then you see them play & they suck absolute fucking shit, every time.
