I'm gonna drag @Meownaw in on this with me since I consider him the only other true cinephile (yes I'll kill myself later) on here.
Film is for something that matters. A movie covers everything right down to the sloppiest of slop.

The first time I ever heard this was in the 80s. My older sister and some of her friends went into NYC to see a movie. It was some independent thing playing at one little theater somewhere in SOHO sort of thing. My father volunteered to pick them up at the train station in NJ afterwards.
Sister and her friends get in the car. My dad asks 'how was the movie?' my sister says to him ......
It wasn't a movie dad. It was a FILM.

You think this is aggravating? Memba when I said Italians want to be Americans? In Italy, people LOVE to shoehorn English terms, it's even more ridiculous! It's just like the wannabe Italians in America. The difference is that in America they at least are humorous about it, in Italy they do it to show off how "chic" they are, nobody involved is bilingual.
