In the movie Rain Man there’s a scene that shows Dustin Hoffman while being intelligent has zero concept of money. ONA also did this once with Bobo asking him how much he thinks people in high positions make for salary. Pat also has zero concept of money and spends it’s like more will just magically slow up and has no issue spending others (mother in law / SFWA) because it’s not real to him. It’s why he brags about 6 figures which was obviously spread out over multiple years. Successful authors don’t brag about how much they make and some even pointed out to him bragging about advances/royalties etc. is a bad look and considered very unprofessional to which of course he disagreed and probably called them a stupid child.
