I'm going to say The Doors.
I've definitely not listened extensively, but what I've heard has not exactly blown me away.

I'm going to have an aneurysm (cheers spell check), get a whisky down youI'm going to say The Doors.
teheOther than Oasis (another pair of charlatans)
Their early stuff only seems corny because their later stuff redefined rock music, so you have the (dis)advantage of listening to it after they made it seem obsolete, if that makes any sense. The Beatles were crazy overrated.
Their early stuff is really faggy.
"I got lips that long to kiss you. And keep you satisfied, oooooooooh!" Benders.
"I wanna hold your hand" Do ya?
Joe Cocker's version of With a Little Help from My Friends is really good, but the original is plodding and sounds like children's music. It says a lot when you can't even perform the definitive version of your own song. Octopus's Garden and Yellow Submarine are both obviously children's music.
While My Guitar Gently Weeps and Here Comes the Sun are good - both written by Harrison. Lennon and McCartney can blow me.
And I don't even see why they are considered influential. Other than Oasis (another pair of charlatans) who exactly did they influence??
brits write good songs when they are out of their element, maybe that's why i never liked Beatles, they are just too british for me.Their early stuff only seems corny because their later stuff redefined rock music, so you have the (dis)advantage of listening to it after they made it seem obsolete, if that makes any sense.
Listen to the singles charts for the week that Love Me Do came out and you can see why people were excited.
The album I heard a lot growing up was Help! I honestly think they could've had a number 1 with any track off that album and probably still could today, it's just so catchy start to finish. Some funny lyrics, some happy, some heartfelt, but nothing too outlandish - they are not some pretentious thinking man's band like BoC.
Pretty much any musician alive would give their left arm to write songs like The Beatles. Nearly everything they did is instantly memorable and they've become so ingrained in British culture that if you're from the UK and you don't know all the words to 10 or more of their songs you've no right to call yourself British. It's like not knowing the national anthem, Land of Hope and Glory, or Jerusalem.
