New Lord of the Rings series starts on Friday

After the Beavis and Butt-Head new season I'm all in with a new King of the Hill to be honest wit chu.
Beavis and Butt-Head is a much easier formula to maintain than King of the Hill. The fact that the voices for both Luanne and Lucky are dead and that the voice of Kahn is a white actor creates some major hurdles right from the hop -- sure they can be hand-waved away with "they moved", but if that's the route were going, what's the point? Combine that with the roughly 0.5% success rate of re-booting dormant franchises, particularly ones that play off the cultural zeitgeist, and I don't think there's a very good chance they pull it off.

I love Mike Judge, but unless he has a substantial point to make about modern America that requires these characters and not just a few half baked, "whoa, what do you think Hank and the gang would have to say about [modern event]", I think it will either fall by the wayside unfinished or come out a massive, potentially legacy tainting, disappointment.

I could never get into King of the Hill. Is there an episode that is guaranteed to be good? And don't give me any redditor bullshit like "Oh watch the one episode that makes the feels on the bus go round and round". I want to laugh, preferably inappropriately.
"A Fire Fighting We Will Go" is PFG but you might need to know the characters to appreciate that one. Just watch the show.

I think a new KotH will work if they stay away from politics. The show was great at doing social commentary about liberals and conservatives without getting political. There was one episode about George W. Bush and then they ignored him for eight years.

If there is an episode where the writers have to make it clear Hank hates Donald Trump even though he's a Republican, I'll tap out. Mike Judge should be smart enough to ignore Trump completely, but who knows?

I don’t even care enough to hate watch it anymore. Wwaw not giving a fuck about gay culture war shit
The best response to this kind of shit is to ignore it, don't have a conversation about the casting, don't even mention you won't watch it. Just pretend it doesn't exist or swiftly move the conversation to something more pressing like how cool a new King of the Hill series would be.

These. This culture war is being waged by faggots on both sides. Fuck it, just worry about you and teaching your seed not to pay attention to it, either. Teach your sons to fix cars and homes, teach your daughters to run households and raise kids and hopefully the world will be better the next go around. Even a million voices don't mean shit screaming at a brick wall.

That's kind of why I think it's doomed to fail. The political elements of everything are painfully overt today. The ability to take playful shots at both sides without some sort of underlying ideological allegiance is a mid-00's trait. For example, how can Dale even exist as a character with acknowledging everything from flat Earth to the alt-right?

Got it day 1 too, don’t remember exactly what I thought but I didn’t care and loved that game so much. I was only like 13 or something at that time and had never even met a black person irl though. If there’s a game that portrays that kind of thug shit (especially London ones) I can relate to real people and experiences, 100% I’m not even watching the trailer
I grew up in a 60% black neighborhood. I certainly developed some opinions. I wonder how I'd feel about things if I never had to interact with them. But then I also chose to marry into a family with black members so I donno.

Also, Frodo and Sam aren't gay. They are just best friends/"brothers". All the autistic people on Twitter and Reddit just don't know what having a best friend is like so they immediately think they are degenerates just like them. Frodo and Sam not only grew up together in a healthy, social community but then they went to war together. Just a tight, platonic, male bond. And maybe some occasionally ass-fucking.

I love the Silmarallion and would pay a fortune to see any of it put to screen with the same level of homage and care the LOTR movies displayed.

I won’t be watching any of this fucking shit. Whoever in the Tolkien estate approved the IP to be gang raped like this should kill themselves.

I think they only have the rights to the appendices in the LOTR trilogy or some shit. Not that it matters though, because they're changing all the stories and characters anyway. If I want to experience The Silmarillion without reading it, I'll take Blind Guardian, thank you

The jokes are pretty subtle. The show relies heavily on you knowing the characters. The flat Stanley episode is probably the one i laughed the hardest at, Hank as a substitute shop teacher, hank has no ass all good eps too.

Edit: best ep by far is Pro Pain

I'm a huge LOTR fan. I even own the Christopher Tolkien books that go through his father's early drafts. I'm still not even going to watch it out of curiosity.

If you are going to though don't watch it anywhere official, and don't even torrent it. They can track views on all of those. Just use those pirate streaming sites that they have no control over.
I'm watching it normally, bad TV cracks me up. I'm totally fine getting more of it.

I don’t mind when they race switch if the actor they pick is a good actor. Too often they pick a terrible black actor, however…or they bring in 21st century politics bullshit where it doesn’t belong. Maybe the good black actors are actual fans of the original story and they wont do it? Who knows.

I am going to be cautiously optimistic and hope that Jeff bezos wont let his new toy be ruined by faggots and danger hairs.

and it can’t be worse than the hobbit movies…can it?
