Giving more info than I should but I'm 25% Native and have lived on the Rez the majority of my life. My grandma and great aunts were the ones you could definitely tell by just looking at them that they were Native, and they were the most chill people I knew. It's the rest of my family...the halfbreeds who never shut the fuck up about the evils of white people(they all married white people btw). I never mention my background to people I know because it's so fucking embarrassing watching people play race games , not to mention people who come here and try to claim native status because a great uncle of theirs was 1/100th Mohawk. So lame. Thank Christ my Mothers Aryan genes saved me.

You sound like a good egg. My great grandfather was Lenape Indian and a bitter drunk who married an Irish immigrant lady. In addition to being half Italian I’m obviously a drain on society but you don’t hear me bragging about it.

I think everyone knows that there weren't any horses in the Americas when the Spanish arrived, but not many people know it's because they killed them all thousands of years prior, so you weren't totally wrong. While the proto mongols and Iranian steppe people said "hey I can use this guy" our feathered friends felt like shooting it full of arrows because I guess they just really liked walking and carrying everything themselves. But next time you hear one of these uppity ghost dancers tell you how in touch with nature they are and how the White man nearly hunted the bison to extinction, you tell them they actually succeeded in hunting horses to extinction.

They also used slash and burn agriculture which is horrible for the environment, but they wrote all of their "history" and "traditions" in the 70's when environmentalism was hot in the streets so basically everything they say they did before the white man is revisionist.

Yeah I got my card as a teenager and it's been huge in saving me from tax. Instead of 13% I mostly only pay 5%. And when it comes to Big ticket items...e.g. a new vehicle...as long as you have status and it's being dropped off to your home on the reserve...all the tax is gone.

Oh yeah, there's definitely some folk here who resent me for getting the same benefits as them but getting to live life as a "white dude". I kind of don't blame them, but if it's that upsetting then they gotta stop fucking all these white women. In 100 years the last Native American is gonna look like Opie.

On the east end of Long Island there is a tribe called the Shinecock. Nobody outside of that tribe considers them to be real Indians because they are all black.

Took them years to finally get federal recognition.
