It’s a weird thing we do in the west, treat the western front as this heroic grand thing when in reality it was unlimited men/supplies/logistics versus children, elderly and whatever reserves they could take from the real war in the east, they hardly had ammunition or weapons.

The Wehrmacht vs the red army was a cataclysmic fight in scale and brutality, it doesn’t even begin to compare to the western front.
The numbers in the Eastern front are insane. The Russians wanted a second front opened much earlier and you can see why. After d day then war was pretty much won but it was kinda like taking the jar off a kid after others had loosened it significantly

Dan Carlin's Ghosts of the Ostfront podcast about this is incredible

Can you imagine Moo plodding around some small village in Latvia?

There is something quite fucking ironic about Moo babbling about respecting the troops, yet worships a draft dodger and someone who called dead officers losers and suckers.
Like every military ball-washer/ass lapper, Joe loves his country deeply, yet never stops bitching about it, and never lifts a finger to make it better in any appreciable way. He only served because he had to, and if he'd had any other option, he never would have done it. Yet in spite of that, it became central to his entire self-image. It's really pitiful when you think about it.

Turns out he didn't do his research and couldn't ride the bike. Luckily for him he got a freebie on the cruise coach tour.

Considering if you had to drive to France from the UK you need shit like reflective jackets and warning triangles in your car I didn't think it would be simple for Joe
