I think his royalties are higher than that, percentage-wise. I did a breakdown on the last forum based off Charles Stross' (an actually successful Tor-published author) blog posts on publishing:And here's another astute observation:

In other words Patrick is making in the neighborhood of $100 every 6 months.
Royalties on mass market paperback editions are set at 8% on the first 150,000 copies of each book, and 10% thereafter, or 5% on copies sold at a discount of more than 55% off SRP.
That said, he's got to earn out his advance before they start paying him royalties, and I think his last three advances came to about $8500 each.
Somebody on the v2 forum also tracked his sales at America's largest (physical) bookstore for a while.
(I don't feel like re-doing it, but he's got at least one tweet bragging that his first two books had "earned out" but the third hadn't, and he's also got a blog post talking about getting a £4500 advance for each of those. You could work out fairly accurately from the dates what his sales figures were.)
