It was also the cunty tone he delivered it in. He probably meant it to sound like "We're both adults here, we know the score. You and I are equals, judge child. Respectable men who are home in the evenings, unlike this young Polack rapscallion." Instead it came across like he was calling the judge an idiot for thinking he'd be in a bar at that hour. He lost the judge's sympathy there and then.

100%. You could tell the judge was revelling in explaining to him how stupid he was for not bringing witnesses etc. from that point on. Sideshow Blob just can't stop stepping on rakes.

As dumb as it was for andrew to go in like he did it's probably for the best since if pat had shown up alone he might have actually been schooled on basics of the legal process and lisTened to sound legal advice like that you need witnesses to be present, that you have to serve the other party, etc. Still would have lost, but pat with basic knowlege could be a fawkin problem due to sheer will of his retardation. Pro se pat would be a good arc though. Show us the power of advanced civics.

He has all the scenarios in his head that he thinks will play out and when finally gets to that moment he has been fantasizing about, he totally fucks it up. Even the judge thought pat was more the problem than BDA. It was amazing. Trying to correct the judge when he was giving his final assessment was gold.

Thanks for that. God hearing him flounder and the defeat in his voice is so heart warming. Then at the very end as his "last word" he asks where to get the appeal information but he never followed through with filing it. It was his only way to scoff at the judgment.

Pat thinks court is just like what he’s seen in tv / movies where the good guy “is heard” by the judge and entire court. Him showing up with nothing explains this, his deranged mind believes everything is good versus evil and he’s on the good side so everything should just automatically go his way because he’s the good guy. He was actually shocked that he had to bring evidence of his claims to a court of law.
