It was smart of Joe to post the evidence of what a giant piece of shit he is just in case anyone was wondering. “Hey I’m broke and untalented so maybe you should share that guys income with me, he’s lass talented and I’m sure after you see me play you will gladly fire him. Plus if you’re following my Facebook you’ll see that I work for free now, can dean beat that price?”
In every other business a move like this by a friend would lead anyone to dedicate their lives to bankrupting this stupid asshole. I am sure Joe got this info directly from his friend too who never expected such a colossally scummy move by Joe.
Since I’m speculating I will guess that the friend would have gladly brought Joe into the deal if the circuit started growing a little bit Joe wanted to take over now and leave his friend to scramble

There are tons of gigs out there but a good booker can get you booked regularly at places that would never let Joe through the door. Oktobeests, thanksgiving festivals, Christmas stuff that only get booked by pros. Some town secretary isn’t going to scout talent and hire music for each event, they use 1 booker and tell them what they want for each event. In joes case they’ll call him and say “can you handle a country music gig for paraplegics?” And Joe will say, “of course, I just stole 10 wheelchairs from the children’s hospital, I’m perfect for this”
That's exactly what happened, the screenshot even starts with Joe saying "Dean's texting me about.." So Dean reached out to Joe, probably cordially, saying "Hey Joe, how's the gig life going? I've been playing country western in these rooms, it's going great! Hope all is well with you." and then Joe tries to butt-in on his gigs, insults him, and then accuses him of being a drug addict when he's called out. The cherry on top was his transparent "I'm praying for him" bullshit after publicly calling him an addict.
