The diet and alcoholism certainly contribute, but I think it's because he spends every second of every day angry as hell. He can't go to a baseball game, a convention where he's speaking, or fucking Hawaii without angrily texting the stlakers back that they're gonna get raped in prison.
Generally guys with anger issues get it out through fistfights, intense sex, whatever it takes to get the venom out so they can sigh in relief and smoke a cigarette.
Honestly he should look into yoga or meditation, anything to give his life brief stops of serenity.

He is what happens when you base your entire life on a social media persona that keeps you glued to your phone. He physically can’t stop tweeting political “hot takes” and looking for fights with internet strangers. It’s why his career is dead and only has this as his “claim to fame” at the moment. He’s so obsessed with beating the trolls / not letting the idiots win that it’s his whole life, it’s why his writing has actually gotten worse with each book because he’s more focused on twitter while writing takes a backseat. He can’t even keep himself in shape because he can’t put his phone down and actually work out / do cardio / etc in a gym.
He is the poster child (tee hee!) for the dangers of social media addiction, just yesterday he claimed his dumb twitter account was “worth something” yet can’t even break 50k followers after a decade.
We didn’t ruin Pat’s life, that blue check mark turned him into the egomaniac monster we see today. Everything in his life was but aside because he was “somebody” finally after being a loser his entire life and he’s been chasing the dragon like a heroin addict ever since.

It's a combination of genetics, diet, physical activity, & baseline appearance. I could pick the partyest year of my 20s, repeat it for the next 10yrs & still look better than Rick does today.
Once upon a time my face started to look a bit round so I took a break for 6 months, I'd obviously found my max booze/day level... it seriously varies for everyone, but you've gotta be honest with any warning signs. If you're overweight with high blood-pressure in ur 30s & having manic mood swings, then you're probably drinking too much.

The anger part is a major reason why he looks like shit, think about it - he wakes up everyday to get on twitter and be a miserable cunt to anyone who dares to disagree with him. Most days he calls 3-4 “fucking stupid” and child before 9am. He’s always been a jealous asshole and hates anyone who is doing better than him, even when his writer friends would land a big gig / job he gives some passive aggressive “congrats” yet asks for a job or something like “if THIS guy can get a gig, I’m DEF next for something big” etc.
His whole life he was a loser and was obsessed with “showing everyone they were wrong” from his hometown (he claims to be the most famous person from yet nobody knows who he is) and that blue check was his “SEE! I SHOWED ALL OF YOU!” Yet still isn’t known.
He proudly bragged that “he’d rather be right than happy” which is insane, everyone wants to be happy but not piggy. He admitted to without realizing it that he’s miserable 24/7 but hes “right” and that’s more important to leading a fulfilling life.

As fat and disgusting as Pat looks, his house looks just as bad. Pat is confirmed poor. Barren white walls, no furniture except that bar he bought off Facebook Marketplace during COVID and a rickety chair, cardboard boxes everywhere, and no A/C. This fat asshole knew a news crew was coming to film inside of his house and it still looks this bad. Pathetic life he lives.

It’s funny because his “place” is so bare - empty walls, boxes stacked up, his only furniture is some shitty old bar he got on Craigslist or something. Niki paid for everything and he’s left with “his” stuff which is next to nothing. I really think she even changed the lock on the floor she’s on.
