I would have preferred if they kept it with the original vision of having Michael Scott being an ass. I think season 3 was when they even changed his hair / make up to make him look more boyish and lovable.

The first season was really funny. They jacked it all from the Britfags but whays funny is nobody watched season 1. Carrel had 40 year old virgin do really well so they gave it a second season and it took off. Patrice really was a dumb nigger, he could have easily worked himself into a real role there if he gave a fuck. Maybe hes right not to.

If they shit it down after 4 it would have been a pretty good show. After that it gets pretty bad.

I liked it 10 years ago. Tried to rewatch it but had to quit because I fucking hate Jim and Pam. If the show acknowledged that they are douchebags and assholes, it would be fine, but they're supposed to be cool. They are right to bully an autistic man at work! Gay fucking shit.

The British Office still holds up. Episode 4 was great. There are jokes about gays having sex with animals that would just not be made today.

What’s weird is so many huge fans of the US office won’t watch the UK one. Every time someone tells me they love the office I ask if they’ve seen the British version and 9 times out of 10 it’s a no. When I was a senior in high school (2004) a friend of mine was a HUGE fan of the British version (before the US one came on) and let me borrow his dvds of it so I can at least say I knew about it before the US version. I remember they were gonna call it “An American Workplace” at first.

the uk version of the show accurately portrays the drab, borderline dystopian atmosphere of working a corporate office. it's cringe, mean-spirted, and incredibly dry, which is entirely the point. the u.s version abandons all of that in favour of utterly interminable comedic set pieces, ZANY and WHACKY characters who mug at the camera and constantly nudge the audience, with 10x the amount of seasons. the british version is about how much it fucking sucks working that job, whereas the american one vibrantly exclaims "LOOK AT HOW FUN THIS ALL IS!"

I don’t understand why so many die hard fans of the office won’t watch the UK version. They tried to keep Michael Scott similar to David Brent at first but we’re afraid US audiences wouldn’t “get it” because US audiences are stupid. So they made him a big lovable goof and everyone silly.

There are 20 somethings out there who think the quirky zany and whackiness are things that happen in real offices.

I remember a coworker years ago saying "we should have a tv show on our job." and I never wanted to chop someone's head off more than I did at the moment.

I used to work in reality tv production and I can’t tell you how many people would tell me “OMG! MY LIFE WOULD BE A GREAT REALITY SHOW! ITS SO CRAZY!” Only to them “No” and explain reality tv is fake as shit (we were told to use the term “softly scripted” instead of the fake word)

I enjoy most of the first 2 seasons. After that, it's all trash.
I can't stand the "Jim looking at the camera and making a face" bit. I want to bash his head in everytime.
