Sort of unrelated but I was relistening to the Bennington vs Flaherty fight the other day. Cumia brings up transgender children, what they teach in schools, and how that influences kids. Bennington makes a great point:

“Did they teach you Algebra in school? Do you remember any of it? No. You can’t teach kids shit.”

I took an optional finance class in high school and I can guarantee no one in my class learned anything from it. I actually gave a shit about the class and even I can’t remember what I learned.

I honestly think the problem isn’t schools but again the lack of knowledge, awareness, or responsibility on the part of the parents for not teaching their kids this shit. They either assume the kids will learn on their own or that school will teach them because when these old people went to school 60 years ago they did have classes like that, as well as good parents who decided to pass on that info to them.

It's not teaching, it's programming/indoctrination. It's much stronger and much harder to break.

This is a common misunderstanding I see with zoomers that I forgot to mention.

I have been around so much of them. They all - ALL OF THEM. Think everything is guaranteed after college. They’ll get a job, they’ll live on their own and their life will just immediately start. I didn’t go to college and I know this is bullshit. Most jobs these people want require previous experience and no ones gonna rent to them when they’re doing entry level / intern positions working up to their career.

But I don’t blame them. Their entire life by their parents, the news, the government, and schools they’re told they won’t be shit without college. They get forced into the pipeline without even an idea of what they want to do or how college would help them do that. The authority figures just tell them “Trust the process” and they go along with it without any critical thinking.

So thats why you have Gen Z crying and complaining about student loans so much. It’s not about useless degrees but a lack of reality with expectations. No one told them they’d be moving back in with their parents, 6 figures in debt, and 0 job opportunities after 4 years of schooling.
