WWAWD 30-30? I’m thinking of buying one of those Rossi lever actions but I’ve never used the round before.
I’ve only shot a little of it and it’s alright. Kicks pretty good. If you’re trying to drop a deer that’s 50-100 yards away it’s not a bad choice.
Lever actions in general are a lot of fun to shoot

Thanks, I’ve only shot .38/.357 in lever action which is a hoot since there’s no recoil.

I had some friends out shooting last week and one of the guys brought some 12 pellet 00 buck shot and we had a lot of fun fucking up cactus with a double barrel couch gun. It kicked like a son of a bitch and wouldn’t run through any of the pump actions we had. It’s labeled as a law enforcement round so I’m not sure how they expect officers to use them in any modern firearms. The casing would expand so much in the chamber that the extractor would just slip off the rim when you’re trying to pull it out.

There’s a lot of garbage sold on the internet under the guise of law enforcement. Same kind of crap you’d see at gun shows next to TERRORIST HUNTING PERMIT - NO BAG LIMIT.

FWIW the only ‘law enforcement’ buckshot worth fucking with is Federal Flite Control, shit does exactly what it claims.

Can I get the forums opinion on such? I am considering getting myself something for xmas this year - debating on either a tisa/rock island/sds 1911 (~$500-600) or going with a pietta/uberti 1851 with all the accoutrements? So far I have probably changed my mind a half dozen times over the last few weeks..

1851 because 1911s fail to feed often enough to be annoying.

In my experience with shotguns anything that isn’t brass will have a tendency to get stuck in the chamber. But you’re right there is a lot of shit out there.

I've had  maybe a couple such failures with my 1911 over the last 25 years. Most of that shooting was in the first 5 years. I save my ammo now, minus .22LR on occasion. @Opesterino a quality 1911 is plenty reliable, imo. I've had more failures with a Glock .40 (mostly magazine or frame flex related).

Would you consider a Pietta or Uberti ?

Thank you for sharing your opinions and thoughts with me.

Have any familiarity with any of the ~$500 1911s? I hear good reports on them but I would really like to hear a first hand account.

Finally got my NYC carry license after 1 year and 9 months of paperwork and waiting. NY sucks balls. Suffolk County resident.

Funny how the tables have turned. Back before SCOTUS struck down NYC’s “may-issue” carry license laws in 2021, only celebrities and the rich were able to get this. Nana had the exact same NYS but non-NYC resident license (“Special Carry”), but under NYS law he is no longer eligible because of his criminal record.

Won’t be seein this no more!
I don't carry much at all, but my state is no permit concealed and open carry.

Sorry. Just the one I bought new over two decades ago, plus my uncle's much older Colt series 70. Haven't been in the market for another full size semi-auto. Also imo, with a 45acp you don't need the specific types of hollow-points that would potentially catch while feeding, due to shape. Some disagree. So be it.
