The rudest waitress I ever had was in Europe where they're paid a livable hourly wage. Not even like I've spent tons of time over there either.

In South America I was treated pretty damn well by servers and chefs. I was of course all too happy to tip well. Only bad time was when this girl I was with said something that offended the chef. That was a hard one to smooth over since he liked us up till that point.

I agree with the original sentiment, tipping shouldnt be based on the fact you wanted to order the steak vs the salad, service is the same. It should be based on the time you spent there. If min wage is $15 and a server manages 5 tables, you should tip 3 bucks an hour

One time I was at iHop with a friend. We waited like an hour for our food because they were so fucking busy. My friend was talking about leaving a small tip because we were so stiffed and I said no and left a bigger tip. Because it wasn’t like the waitress was mmmmotherfucking us. They were busy. And because these scccumbags don’t want to pay this woman a living wage I guess i have to.
