That’s the thing about these insufferables. When you try to tell them that maybe they shouldn’t be a complete train wreck of an addict, they tell you to stop preaching.

Then when they finally get their shit together, they get a bunch of undeserved accolades and celebration, and then they start saying the same common sense advice you were trying to tell them before they destroyed themselves, except now they act like they are so wise and all knowing for saying it, like they discovered the secret of life.

Yeah, same. He's a self-admitted attention whore who could be a real prick to people back when he was fawkin zooted all the time. That's why I think his nice guy persona these days is largely genuine in the sense that he's really willing himself to be a better person, which might actually be worse than a thin veneer.

When some waitress puts on a fake smile when you place an order you can easily tell she actually fucking hates your guts and every second of doing that job, and there's something endearing and human about that. People who are overly friendly and seem to mean it are instinctively off-putting and they just make you want to push their buttons until they lose their composure and you take comfort in the fact that at their core they're just as miserable as everyone else.
