As for dinosaurs, Genesis makes it clear that God created all the creatures but it doesn't name any particular ones other than humans and the serpent during the week of creation. Dinosaurs were creatures of the land the sea and the air so they're included. It's not really an issue.

The history of atheistic revolutionary movements from the French onwards makes a liar out of you.
The USSR and the First Republic are long gone. I can only speak for myself but my mentor in University was an Evangelical Christian. We had nothing but respect for each other's beliefs.

My priest also said the "Gospel of Thomas" is good if you need kindling or a doorstop, or maybe a wobbly table that needs shoring up.

Actually I have one religious/superstitious believe. Any time I consult the I Ching it's totally right and I can't explain it. It's not like a horoscope. It says very specific things.

Secrets of the I Ching was the name of one of 10,000 Maniacs first albums. Young Natalie Merchant was lovely, but I don't see myself living my life around her teachings.

The atheists always seem to attack the least intellectual proponents of theism, and seek out the lowest hanging fruit when they have this discussion.
Very rarely do you see them genuinely pursue the matter as opposed to promoting rhetoric and selling books. Science and the scientific method does not necessarily hold domain over the spiritual. These very same people would be offended if you tried to use science and/or statistics to prove the beauty or superiority of certain types of cultures, music, art, ethics etc. but don't realize they are committing the same folly in attacking people's spiritual beliefs. They are anti-human in their stance.

Why don't they use scientific thought to attack poetry? because it's stupid to do that? oh...

No one is basing their life off of the poetry of Emily Dickinson. Religion is often at odds with science because they are incongruous in explaining how we ended up here. One is based on faith and belief while the other is based on empirical evidence.

The manners of speech and the language of each area of thought are completely divergent, each covering separate aspects of humanity. When you take religion to a scientific debate or science to a religious discussion and compare them strictly 1 to 1 the incongruity lies with your own valuations and perceptions and not with the subjects at hand. That's how I see it.

Humanity should not be without either.
