Are there any current series worth watching?

I'm currently watching...

Succession (This season sucks. A lot of out of place woke shit this season).

The wheel of time... Not too bad for a fantasy show, but not good.

The Expanse. The last season's 1st episode premiered this week. If you're into space syfi you'll probably like it. It feels a bit cheap to me and the acting is inconsistent, but it's a decent time killer.

Is it true that Patrick largely copied one of his novels from the expanse? I remember some tweet about that

Not sure about that, but it's been a rather large influence within the syfi space community due to the writers consulting with scientists to add as much realism as possible. Thanks to interstellar and the expanse space focused syfi writers are trending towards the use of scientifically plausible tech and mechanics in their works.

Interstellar is actually good? I tend to stay away from sci Fi because of the pedophilia but I love a good sci Fi horror or something original. Once we enter warlock and spells territory I tune out

Though flawed I loved Interstellar! It's a really fun movie if you suspend disbelief and allow yourself to get into it. There's one particular intense scene that alone makes the movie worth a watch.

Yellowstone is pretty average and a little wacky but it isn’t cape shit like everything else on tv. Succession is dogshit. Watched every episode, loved season one and two but it’s never ending and extremely repetitive and boring at this point.

It's a few years old, but Justified was really good, even if it ran a season too long. Plus it introduced me to Walton Goggins.
I really liked it, but lost interest by the last season. In fact I'm not even sure if I've seen the whole last season.

Succession is great. I'm enjoying this latest season, although there were one or two episodes that dipped compared to the first two seasons. A lot of people are thrown off by the tone in the beginning. It's as much a comedy as it's a drama. The showrunner is one of the two guys who created Peep Show and a lot of the humour is quite British and the camerawork is quite like The Thick Of It.

Yellowjackets is the best new show of 2021 for me. Like Lord of the Flies but with women cannibals.

I actually quite enjoyed Bosch on Prime. It's quite low key and unflashy and at first it just seems like another police procedural. Sure it's not in the league of The Shield or even The Wire but it's actually a really solid show.

A few of its strengths are -
1) Titus Welliver as Bosch. He's a great character actor but carries the show as the lead.
2) Jamie Hector as his partner. Was great as Marlo in The Wire and completely convinces as a homicide detective. Lance Reddick (Daniels in The Wire) is also in it as their captain and later chief of police. Quite a few actors from The Wire (the creator wrote for it) and Deadwood (a show Welliver was on) show up in guest roles.
3) The writing and plots are pretty old school and un-woke, and everyone smokes and drinks in it, especially the cops.
4) It's set and filmed in LA and that shithole hasn't looked as good in a TV show or movie since Heat. The cinematography is pretty great.

Don't expect to watch a groundbreaking show but it is good and entertaining.

Watch Call My Agent (Dix Pour Cent). It's a seriously good French show about a bunch of sociopathic talent agents. It's very witty, and the ensemble cast is great. It's got some woke elements, like a lesbian lead character, but the actress has A-grade comedy acting chops, and her character is the most interesting of the bunch. They made 4 seasons and then stopped so they could go out on a high.

There's already been a bunch of remakes, but they're shit, so watch the original before they ruin it. And don't worry about the Netflix logo - they don't make it, only distribute it.
