It’s crazy to think about 20 years ago this band was breaking up. Then again since people don’t buy albums anymore bands can’t break up, they need to tour to make a living because they can’t rely on record sales. Pink Floyd and Zeppelin can afford to not reunite but that’s about it.

The first single they released for it is the only serviceable track. Not totally unsurprising. Just continue to play the classics at shows and keep the new songs to a minimum on the set lists and I’m fine with it.

at least they know people are coming to hear the classic stuff when they play live. Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden said he purposely makes the set list new album heavy and it’s sucks.

Iron Maiden was the worst band I’ve ever seen live. Bruce Dickinson was running around the stage with a British flag and kept whining about America and how expensive our beer was. Then he stopped the show and refused to play again until the people in the audience stopped smoking weed. They played fine but Bruce is such a fag.

I debated it both ways, I figured this would be better since Metallica in 2023 should probably be criticized and not ball washed.

Same issues as always. They have no ability to self-edit at all, and every single song is way too long and way too repetitive. Hetfield's gay singing sounds the same on every track, too. It's not horrific, but none of it is memorable either. Specific to this one, it's pretty gay to be whining about your childhood at Hetfield's age. "Boo hoo, I was a sad kid"...who gives a shit?

What amuses me most about modern-day Metallica is that being a half-baked thrash band was exactly what Jason Newsted wanted them to be, and he was roundly mocked and scorned by his bandmates for that take. Now they're doing exactly what he thought they should be doing all along.

I kind of liked Lux Aeterna when it first came out, hated that second single I can't remember the name of, and then completely forgot this was coming out.

Don't like the album. Sounds like a bad Godsmack cover band, and Godsmack suck ass too.

I saw them way back in 2000 or maybe 2001. They opened with "Aces High", then Dickinson announces they'll be playing lots and lots of new stuff tonight. The crowd deflated instantly. I barely made it halfway through.
