It’s probably going to be shit, they’ll probably be some bad ass female who can inexplicably kill 100s of men using her bare hands.
It had some great sets, music and action but yeah, everything besides that was pretty forgettable. Anything with the emperor's sister could've been cut entirely from the film and I doubt anyone would notice it.
I remember Saving Private Ryan being even worse in that regard, at least Gladiator had characters. Thinking back you can only remember the big set pieces. D-Day, sniper, machine gun nest and final battle. That's maybe 60 minutes in a movie that was nearly three hours long. It's shocking how much of it was boring padding to string action scenes along on and how much of that consisted out of sappy attempts at drama involving a cast of cardboard cutouts. If it wasn't for the brutal effects, the film would feel very dated. Like something made during or just after the actual war.

Pedro Pascal is in this and he's one of the worst actors I've ever seen get leading parts. I also can't watch anything he's in because I burst into laughter thinking about Lady Di harassing him every single time. The first Gladiator film had a nigger character who was "hardcore" and showed Maximus, the greatest Roman General, how to really be a fighter. But part of that dynamic was likely because the actor who played Proximo died of a heart attack before the movie was done. Shadows and dust.
Great film. There was a miniseries called 'The Terror' in a similar setting that had a fag character. But he turned out to be a serial killer with an 'infected soul' and it triggered the weirdos.

Djimon Hounsou or however you spell it. I don't remember it being like that. He saves his life by treating his wound for infection using primitive bush medicine, and is then basically one of his two right-hand men, along with the big German. If anything Maximus teaches him (and others) how to fight in an organised way against superior numbers in the recreated battle of Carthage.

Yeah, my A-level Latin teacher took a bunch of us to the cinema to see it when it came out, so I was 17 or so. It was great then, haven't seen it in years.

Did any of you ever read the original script for Gladiator 2 by Nick Cave? It borrowed more than a little bit from Casca and was a hell of a trip. Probably would have made a better movie than whatever this is going to be.
