Dang somehow I hadn't heard that, neat. I wish I would have thought to sing that at him when I met him a few years back.
I guess I've fallen behind in my archiving. I've got like 20 burned CDs labelled "rare Oasis" "demos" etc. Not counting shitloads of live recordings. I've got these VHS tapes I bought from a dude on Ebay that have a bunch of concerts on them Japan, drunk Wembley, GMEX 97...now they are all on Youtube in waaaay better quality. Not to mention paying like $20 for singles any time I could find them at record stores. Still have all that stuff.

You heard this one? This dudes voice was downright angelic at the beginning:

I wish he had never done any drugs or drank, and perhaps started the band 5 years sooner, just so we could have gotten his “young voice” for longer.

There’s a lot of shit he stopped doing eventually. 1) letting it almost crack sometimes 2) the falsetto 3) letting it sound youthfully “sweet and innocent”, you can almost hear him smiling with some of Noel’s particularly silly lyrics

I always look at this song as a prime example, you can hear a little bit of it as well on married with children from that album.

Whats everyone’s favorite songs on Be Here Now?

I think Don’t Go Away is a legitimately great radio single and there are more good tracks on there than its reputation suggests, but for some reason I’ve always really liked The Girl in the Dirty Shirt. It’s just a happy song with a pleasant melody and it’s not trying to be “mega”.

Noel did one with U2.

Liam says he's never met a U2 can and doesn't understand how they are big.

Same.

I saw U2 when they brought that giant claw stage to Soldier Field back in 2010. Prior to that concert I only really liked a couple singles.

It has been a long slow process for me to get into them. I think if you’re not 50-70, then your first introduction was overplayed classic rock radio and their late 90s early 00s output (which isn’t their best.)

I also believe that a lot of what was interesting or unique about them lost it’s appeal when Bono became ubiquitous in the 90s.

Anyway my point is they’re actually a great band.

Don’t Go Away was my fag out song when some bitch broke up with me after finding out I was doing blow on the weekends.

Be Here Now and Stay Young are great fawkin tunes. But like everyone knows there was too much blow and Noel got cocky. There’s good stuff there, really wished he’d remixed and edited down the album when the deluxe edition was released.

The chorus of 'Don't Go Away' always grated on me but I agree on 'The Girl With The Dirty Shirt'. Also like the title track, 'Stand By Me', 'I Hope, I Think, I Know' and 'All Around The World'.

It's a fucking travesty that almost every song is overlong and overblown, creating a bloated, self indulgent record. Done properly, the album could have been another classic. But that's arrogance and drugs for you.

Unpopular opinion we all secretly hold.

They shouldn’t get back together, they’re releasing much better music solo than oasis did in the second half of their career and the gigs wouldn’t be what they used to be. It would be full of dickheads recording it on their phones or making Tiktok videos. The joy of Oasis was the crowd all in the moment and those days are gone.

I have no desire to see 90 year old Paul McCartney or the Rolling Stones.

I’ve seen Noel live several times and I’ve seen Liam live once. They were good gigs but the crowd was full of the usual retards who record everything.

Noel isn’t going to write music for Liam anymore, and even if he did it wouldn’t be any good because he writes for himself now and it doesn’t suit Liam.

Rumors have been percolating for a long long time… but now sources “in the know” are saying it’s a done deal.

I am hoping they boot those faggots Bell and Archer and bring back retarded Irish alcoholic Bonehead and Guigsy, but I am sure that won’t happen.

I feel like even if the tour comes to the US, I need to see them in England - particularly if they do Knebworth. If one brother can sell it out, two definitely can.
Haven't the Gallaghers famously shit talked each other for years? Honestly though it kinda rules how openly they just embrace being Manc trash

They’re both bright, funny and biting with their insults too. That plus the pettiness makes it fawking hilarious.

Liam doing the press thing with a class of kids and needlessly commenting how one is the same height as Noel always gets my ribs.

Oh yeah just reading about them going back and forth made me like them. Gave me loffs. They clearly don't hate one another but you know as brothers they get on each other's tits like no one else

Man I was gonna buy you a ticket til you became a negative Nancy about this whole thing.

1) I saw McCartney and the Stones as well, in 22 and 21 respectively, and they sounded fucking amazing and were both excellent shows.

2) they don’t need to reform as a band that makes new music. They just need to get back together and play a gigantic show, and then they can go back to whatever they were doing.

If they announce a reunion this year I’ll pay for your ticket, brotherman.

If they don’t, you need to find @Jenna and compromise him to a permanent end.

I don't think All Around The World gets enough respect..it should be as big as Hey Jude.

Liams voice is great on Dirty Shirt. I play and sing I Hope I think I Know on guitar a lot to warm up. Really all of Be Here Now is great to sing along for stretching your voice purposes.

I don't know their music all that well yet, but D'ya Know What I Mean? still slaps, child. I liked that before I actually got into them. I pretty much knew Wonderwall, Don't Look Back in Anger and Champagne Supernova for a long time.

I've always liked Noel, and recently I started watching some videos about different events in their history (like the disastrous 2nd night of Wembley in 2000), so I'm now finally starting to like this band. Supersonic is one of the best rock songs of the 90s. I'm also very partial to Gas Panic.

He did start remixing it and quit after doing Dyou Know What I Mean...and I don't even think that was necessary to put out, I didn't like it very much. What is there really to shorten?

Watching their Behind The Music is what got me into them. My dad was watching it and was like "come check out these guys, they're hilarious." Not "their music is great" lol

What turned me from just thinking they were annoying British fags was O&A playing Noel's commentary on the music videos. Ever since then I've really liked him. I'd never heard an artist hilariously shitting on all of their own videos.
