I remember when Netflix first started streaming and finding shitty softcore porn like Mary Carey's "Pervert!" and being blown away that I was watching it on my Xbox 360. Wireless. No buffering. Shit was a big deal.

Similar to when the Dreamcast came out and I used the web browser to check out porn image sites for the first time in the privacy of my own bedroom. Sure it has a 100ft phone jack wire coming from it, but it worked.

Their catalog went to shit and they went all in on original programming geared toward Twitter fags. Every time I click on the app it'll be a horse shit movie like this as the "#1 Movie":

That Reacher show on Prime apparently did record numbers. It was no work of art but was solid entertainment with almost no woke shit and a straight white male lead who wasn't part fruit or in need of "educating." And the audience lapped it up. I reckon 10/15 years ago it wouldn't have made any kind of splash but people are thirsty for shows that do what they're supposed to. Be entertaining and not a preachy lecture.

If the people at the top of Netflix had any brains they'd cancel all of the minority pandering shit they're putting out and bring back shows like Manhunter.

No quality control was always going to be Netflix's downfall. They were putting out so much content and buying the rights to whatever they could get their hands on and 90% of it was total dogshit. And yeah go look in the top 10 movies on Netflix and honestly it's all shitty movies that were box office flops a decade ago or whatever new shit movie they've featured on the front page.

Most of them are terrible. I think the last one I gave a chance was Space Force and it was boring unfunny shit. The last one I remember thinking was alright was Ozark, but I never watched anything beyond season 1. I can imagine it goes to shit probably.

For years Netflix has benefited from becoming part of the national lexicon and being the first service of its kind. Its always “Netflix and chill”, and people generally refer to watching tv now as watching Netflix no matter what service they’re actually using.

It doesn’t have the same ring to say “Alright class, make sure you study this weekend between Amazon Prime episodes” so people just say Netflix and for that reason alone it will be the first thing people try and they’ll probably do ok for a long time even if the quality goes to shit.

Canceled it a month or so ago since any time I'd bring it up, I found myself just scrolling through and not finding a thing. The standups and documentaries weren't bad for a while, but then it looked like they were just throwing anything out there without asking the question of who the fuck is going to watch this?

I have only been using it for Better Call Saul and Ozark. It's not even my subscription, it's that of a family member. If I didn't have it I would just torrent it instead so it's not like that they're missing income because I am account sharing.
