WWAW buying a small business?

It truly amazes me how difficult and time consuming they make it for the literal life blood of the economy. Not to mention how hostile, lazy, and incompetent the "public employees" are whose responsibility it is to handle filings and other shit.

They don't like small business owners. Republicans are at best apathetic unless you're big enough to contribute to their campaigns. Democrats detest small business owners because they are very often conservative. Ironically, Democrats love big business these days because they promote DEI and Pride shit.

The Covid lock downs made that obvious because the government got to pick and choose which businesses got to stay open.

Any CASH business is good.
Any business with little interaction with the public is best

Unless you are working at the business and running it or have someone you implicitly trust to do it (family, long time friend) then I wouldn't bother.
Also don't hire family or friends.
That’s kind of my thought - I would be the owner/operator who perform the core function and then hopefully grow it to a point where I can build a team.

I’d like to find one that’s being sold because the owner is going to retire and would coach me up until I’m up to speed. I’m assuming I could add that as a term of the deal/contract.

Thanks. I actually think there’s a law that says you don’t have to pay payroll taxes if you don’t file paperwork with the state so I probably won’t do that.
my dad owned a restaurant (or rather- the restaurant had him on the books as the "owner", and my mom ran it)
we had no "payroll" per se because it was me, him, my mom, and my aunt.
whatever we made was just to support the house

our accountant had to make up numbers for "payroll" because if we didn't pay payroll tax, we would have been find

lesson to learn?
- get a jewish accountant, and not a wop
- don't do business in New York State

TL/DR: we had to pay payroll tax even though we don't have payroll just to keep New York State from fining us for not paying payroll

Yes - my buddy who is a business genius told me about it.

And by yes I mean no - I’m working an angle.

You should always pay your taxes as a shoot

I work in an industry where constantly i encounter dumb fucks who bought their business and don’t know what the fuck they’re doing and fuck everything up. They don’t know shit about the industry, even less than the workers they can’t train and refuse to. They’re those dudes who think owning your own company is sitting on your ass and taking phone calls all day while you become a millionaire. Worker fucked up the job? “BAAAH WHY ARE YOU CALLING ME CALL THE MANAGER WHO HANDLES EVERYTHING!”. Trying to sell a job, the one thing they should be good at? “Hey manager, can you explain that to the customer?” Despite being at the top they somehow always pass the buck to people with lesser responsibility.

My favorite is when you call the “boss” of the company and he doesn’t even live in the same fucking state. My other favorite is when the “boss” of the company chose OWNING A BUSINESS as his “retirement gig”. Never show up on site. Don’t know shit. They’ll come from NJ or NY down South and are shocked that everything is different from regulations to the actual environment / weather, which obviously affects shit like construction and other technical work related to it. “YOU KNOW BACK WHEN I USED TO DO RADON TESTING” Thats great old man, we don’t fucking do that here, there are no basements. And you’re working in a completely different industry that isn’t analogous.

Everything now seems to be “let’s buy a business and then let’s buy a bunch of similar businesses and then let’s merge them all together so we’ll have a big company and some other group of marks will buy it from us because we can talk about how much market share we’ve captured over the past 2 years even though all we did was just buy a bunch of stuff and packaged it together.”

To be fair, it seems to work really well for a lot of people so what do I know

What happened during the Chinavirus was pure evil. So many hardworking people needlessly lost everything they worked their whole lives for, while deadbeats like Fat/Nik/Seth Simons received tens of thousands of dollars for doing literally nothing with money printed out of thin air.

Funeral home. It's mostly high-cost service fees, very little on-hand merchandise, and you get to drive a Cadillac!
Was going to come in and say that. I have no idea if this is true, but I heard that every family who owns a funeral home in every little town across America are millionaires. It makes sense

I didn't realize you could just "Buy a small business"

How the hell does that work?

I’m unironically open to something like this. They tried to sell me a $30,000 casket for my dad. I got the $5,000 one and had them inscribe his name on the lid. He would have been pissed if I spent 30 boxes of ziti just to have it put in the ground.

It’s easier than ever to stand out by just doing the bare minimum, which is turning up on time and knowing what you’re doing.

Whatever industry you’re in, most people don’t really have a grasp on what they’re doing and will get angry for being questioned on it.

If you have money, buy a strip mall and lease some units out. After a year you can leverage that building to buy another and keep the gravy train rolling. I would do this but I'm too tired from running a landscaping business 12 hours a day.

I’ve thought about residential rental properties but I never wanted to be a landlord, plus it takes almost 6 months to evict someone if they stop paying.

Leasing retail or office space is an interesting idea but I’d need to look into the risks.
