Would O&A still even manage to exist on SXM beyond 2014?

Let's throw around the scenario that Anthony didn't get fired for Nigga posting and both he & Opie somehow managed to repair their friendship.

Would the show still manage to hold tight and not get canned past that point? I was thinking probably so, I mean SXM still has Stern and that nigga's been past his prime for years. Also dumping the worm and having a revolving third mic would probably make the show way fresher.

And their shock jock era show that was bound to cause controversy in the me too/cancel culture era. You simply can't do that type of radio anymore and none of them had any skills beyond that.

Jim and Sam still exist because they work for comparative peanuts and their show is about as shocking as a 9 volt battery.

Stern is a special case because the company was literally built around him- but even he is a pale bland shadow of his peak era self.

You have a good point there. Come to think about it, they seemingly wanted them gone since the merger with the downsizing of their studio, closing on other bits and gags, etc. Now I'm starting to think about that podcast they were talking going on about near the end. But my guess is that Opie would have tried unsuccessfully to run the business end and Ant/Jim would have done nothing. And the whole thing would have imploded. No timeline exists where Anthony doesnt get himself fired for racist tirades. Even if there was, Opie fucking hated him and would never put in effort to do a podcast with that pedo.

What if Anthony had died that night in Times Square? Let's say a passing policeman saw the woman hitting him and decided black lives don't matter and shot both of them.

There's a comical farewell funeral where people speak somewhat fondly of him but joke about needing a giant swastika flag to drap across the casket. Anthony isn't around to constantly sow division and shit up the airwaves with Obama talk, so Opie and Jim do a show together. They dial back the shock jockery and it becomes banal talk radio. The fans turn on them (and pretend Anthony wasn't a piece of shit).

Eventually Opie and Jim split due to their womanly need to act out their emotions in passive-aggressive ways. Opie's individual show eventually collapses just like Opie Raqio did. Jim and Sam do a show together. Opie never forgives Sam for choosing Jim over him despite the obvious benefits of being a co-host over yet another glorified intern position.

The subreddit has the same meltdown and becomes the forum. A handful of users keep saying actually Anthony was a complete piece of shit but nobody really cares.

Basically everything continues exactly as it does now but there's no Compound Media or Feed Nana memes. Brother Joe is still relentlessly fucked with since he inherited half Anthony's money and lives a life nearly identical to how current day Anthony does.

The only way they'd be able to is if management successfully browbeat them into doing a sanitized J&S style show, which isn't an impossibility but very unlikely. Opie would've sperged against it on the air and in meetings, and while Anthony is cowardly of character enough to comply, he's too impulsive not to slip up with his ranting on or off the show. Norton was the only viable choice, though at that time he was too wormy and comfortable in his position to move against the other two.

Even if the suits managed to do that, the show would still be permanently tainted thanks to its history. Firing the weakest link (from a corporate PR POV) once they had a good reason and intimidating the other two and then trying to salvage what they could from the wreckage by rebranding was the only realistic course, and they did exactly that.

You got a good point there about Stern, 2014 was when I think Stern changed Wendy and Gary the retards to “conquerer” and “slow adult” and really tone it down. I think the last topless woman in the stern studio was 2013 and the Sibian disappeared around 2011.

This is probably the timeline with most long term potential. Cumia is killed by NYPD or gets Trayvon'd in Roslyn. Opie can then hire an actual replacement. 2015 it's the Opie & Davidson with Jim Norton Show.
