To some degree, yes but not to the extent that they're insane about it like they are here in the UK with half the people. They aren't a nation recognised for athletic prowess at an elite level though. I think in any European or South American country people have football in their bones. It just doesn't resonate in other places. If people played football in India or Australia at the same rate they played cricket you'd see a much different scenario.

Baseball is the biggest sport in Japan by a large margin. Meanwhile, football is the biggest sport in Croatia by far, plus they play European football at the highest level (Dinamo/Split mainly)

There is a good European scouting network set up in Croatia too, that's why a lot of Croatian players play all over Europe at top levels. To be fair though, there are quite a lot of Japanese players in Europe atm, there were only a handful a decade ago and the majority of their national team used to all play in the domestic leagues.

Search on twitter for Bangladesh Argentina. The fans there are as insane as Europeans. The Indian league is pretty well supported too but many of them support English sides. Why do you think the premier league is so rich? The Asian subcontinent+ far east were on board well before the current American deals.
