Irish people are blue eyed, white as snow and behave pretty much the same as the english. Why didn't the english see irish as their own? I get italians and greeks are pretty different from the english but irish doesn't make sense.

In the 16th century Henry VIII was king and wanted to get divorced so he could marry some other woman, fuck knows who. The Catholic church had control over the monarchy and forbade divorce in those days so Henry decided to start his own (Protestantism) and broke away from Papal jurisdiction (the Pope). The Catholics were basically 2nd class citizens from that day on, having their religion basically dissolved. The majority of people switched and you had years of fighting between the 2, which isn't even really finished. Now if Ireland was ever full of anything, it's Catholics.

From there a lot has happened but it culminated in Ireland gaining it's independence from the UK in the 20s. That didn't stop the fighting as you had the IRA fucking with the English and the UVF fucking with Ireland over who and what was British or wasn't. Catholics in Northern Ireland (which is still part of the UK) are still fucked with today. Then you have the towns and cities n the border which have a rather volitile mix of both. The UK govt renamed one of the cities; Derry was renamed Londonderry to get British tourists to go, it's a shitehouse so no one does. They also quelled a protest there by getting the army to shoot 2 dozen people with assault rifles (Bloody Sunday)

I didn't even talk about Brexit. Most of the hold up on that shit is because the south and the north have only just got rid of the hard border between them in the last 20 years (i think). I'm not exactly a history buff but I'd imagine they weren't getting any Irish Lives Matter marches. I just know all this from school and sectarian football hooliganism. Ireland's just a 1 hour plane (edit, not boat, plane, you can get a boat but not in an hour) ride away from Glasgow so theres a lotta irish cunts round here.
