BJJ is good for training how to handle yourself on the ground (no, every fight doesn't end up on the ground) and it's really good for training yourself how not to run out of gas within the first 20 seconds of a fight. There's some good stuff there, but like every martial art, it only covers a spectrum of what a real fight is.

My Turkish brother-in-law's been training for a few years. He's a blue belt now, started to do competitions. Sis says he comes home bruised a lot, or with muscle pain. He's also a linger-longer Roganite, and before he married my sis he was a bodybuilder. Won't shut up about either.
Being culturally Arab he ofc has no issue sensually touching other men, and I suspect he's a closeted bisexual anyhow (it takes them a while to extricate feelings of homosociality from homosexuality, see aforementioned), so I suppose to be in a BJJ setting works for him.
I wouldn't know, I don't like how men smell and look and lose all reason when sweaty or half/naked, sounds grim ygm.
