Hobby I'm looking to pick up in the near future. Been keeping an eye out for a cheap, secondhand Ibanez or Les Paul. Not easy to find as I prefer to play left-handed because I'm a difficult faggot.

I've heard that the tremolo system on the Ibanez Gio, I think it's Floyd Rose, is quite bad (makes the guitar go out of tune) and to get a fixed bridge if you're just starting out. Is that true?

If youre just starting yes. I prefer floyd rose systems and with a few youtube videos you pretty much know how they work and how to set yours up.

What's a decent sounding acoustic guitar that won't break the bank? All of the low end ones I've had seem to fall out of tune in like 10 minutes. Could be because I stink I suppose.

Got to get out and play those when buying. Every acoustic sounds different, even two off the same assembly line. I've got a mid range Alvarez that I keep on hand that I really like. I've had guys case their Martins and Taylors and do retakes with it when I'm not happy with how their guitars are sitting in the mix.

it is true that a beginner should usually go with a fixed bridge unless a tremolo is involved in the style of music they want to play.

most of the tremolos on the ibanez gios and other entry level models are like the ones on stratocasters and they usually have normal nuts installed with them. floyd rose style bridges have locking screws and go with a locking nut. i personally think the floyd rose style bridges/locking nut combo are the best for staying in tune because you can fully lock the string down on both ends though it does has a higher learning curve to set up correctly.

* i see they have a lot of guitars labeled "mikro" or have a "M" in the list name. those are 3/4 sized guitars for young/short people, def avoid if you are looking to get an ibanez.

Just recently started taking piano lessons as guitar hasn’t been giving me the same thrill it once did.

Started playing bass at 14 and moved onto guitar at 25. I've studied music theory and built a little home studio (minus the live drum room).
Currently play a Gibson SG and some Jap Ibanez SDGR bass that has a fucking stupid serial number instead of an actual name. Got an American made strat I'm trying to get rid of but they rape you on shipping charges for shipping guitars.
My friend who I record with has an Ibanez Joe Satriani model and holy shit is it nice, but I'd never pay over 3 fucking grand for a guitar.

I live in a major city with a big jazz and blues festival culture, so you would think music shops would be good, but they sell a lot of those beginner Ibanez packages and shit that Mommy and Daddy buy their kiddies. Where do you go for good guitars? I'm in the market for a good $1000+ jazz\blues guitar. I've bought a few online and then cancelled the order because I didn't feel good about buying it without playing it.

I've got one cheap P Bass knock-off (branded "Jay Turser") I bought off a dude cuz it just feels amazing. It's on par with my $2k~ basses. Cost me $100...

Then I've got another P Bass I built from a Squier body and Mexican Jazz neck. I've actually got a pic of that:

The pickups are Dimarzio split rails. I also swapped out the faggot ass clover tuners Fender uses for modern "Y" keys, too.

Other than those two basses, everything else is the real deal.
