I’m not as caught-up on the extra characters’ histories, especially not someone like Denny. Why did he get shit from people?

It seems to me like he was just some music jock who it was easy to call an “old fogey,” which sure, may not have been the most inaccurate assertion, but it seems to me that the shit he got was mostly unwarranted.

Sure it’s mainly Jim and Sam who I hear bitching about Denny, and their opinions aren’t worth the shit caked-on their dildos, but it’s still a tad confusing to me, and I feel like I MUST be missing something.

If the answer is just “Jim and Sam are fags,” then so be it. I thoroughly enjoy hearing Dennis reply matter-of-factly to Sam’s attempts at insulting him, because he knows that Sam is a monkey solely concerned with making himself look good by comparison.

I also thought that History of Radio “jocktober” that he provided tapes for was incredibly interesting, but I can see how a bunch of borderline-unemployed truckers and office workers would lose interest when they don’t get to call random jocks cunts and niggers.

I'd say the same for Sandy Kane. A living time capsule to a bygone era in Times Square and NYC and someone who experienced Phil Spector's violence firsthand. And they saw her as someone to throw stuff at while she tries to sing terrible songs.

I'm sorry, did you ever listen to her speak? It's more comfortable being stabbed in the ear.

Look I'm not white knighting for her, but maybe there could've been a happy medium between Bobo-tier and subdued "good boy" Michael Shannon-style interviews.

Anthony was the worst offender of this, but there were plenty of times when the retard guests were actually about to say something interesting (usually tea or some behind the scenes shit) and they would just talk over them with Nana's "Utter bbbbaaaaabbbbbble" or "Drek" instead of letting them finish a sentence.

If the boys were good interviewer's, they wouldn't have crashed and burned like they did. It's amazing we got anything good when celebrities were in. Yah can't have both the freakshows and a proper show it seems.

Dennis could qualify as the number one guest of all time and he only started appearing on the show in 2013. His first episode was Erock's infamous Tequila and Donut episode. His appearance where they talked about his sexual harassment and drunken behavior at the office party is an all time classic.

Denny was great on air but in the workplace he's an autistic nudge who would pester eveyone constantly for free shit. They talked about him asking people for their home-brought food that they were in the middle of eating and this would apparently happen several times a day. Imagine eating a sandwich and your coworker asks if he can have the other half.

His best appearance IMO was the recap of his awkwardly sexual behavior at the office christmas party. I bet you he's great time but you wouldnt want to work with him.

There's a way to match the tone of the show. One of my fav interviews I can remember was Sam & Dave interviewing Cousin Brucie. It was a semi-serious interview, he told cool stories about the Beatles, and when it was over it ended with Dave running through the studio screaming, "NOW YOU GET THE FUCK OUT!!!"

The problem with guests on O&A in the satellite era was they either kissed the guy's ass if they were bigger than the show or pounced on the ones who were beneath them and never really let them break through. The comics and C-listers were basically peers and that's why the "hang" concept worked. If they let some of the Z list retards get a win every so often or treated the A-listers like regular people, they would've won over people casually checking out the show for the A-listers.

Notably, WNEW would have ascendant B-listers like Jack Black sitting in for crying midget strippers. Bringing them down to the show's level was a winning formula.

Dude, Denny's a walking puzzle piece.

I assumed the Christmas party behavior was an invention of Sam.
